What does it mean?

Star69, sadly, because the quad core is just two dual cores in a common package, I have a feeling that processing speed won't be significantly better than a 2 CPU board...

That being said... it still gives me a little techie woody.

Only improves performance if you do video encoding. For everything else: gaming, multitasking, office, photoshop etc the performance is the same as the core 2 duo e6800.

right and wrong, it will help with multitasking, each processor gets a task so 4 full speed task can be ran without performance lost. Not going to see any real performance gains other than that until multi threaded applications take better use of it

The real thing has been delayed till end of 2007. The 45nm Penryn design is the one to wait for. 4 cpus on the same die, 40+ new instructions.

This one is two Core 2 Duos stacked on top of each other.

Now I just need a quad socket board to put 4 of these in. :)

I'm skipping this quad-core, definitely waiting for the real deal. Wonder what AMD will have out then? :winkwink:
