I have my computer (sound card: Turtle Beach Motengo DDL) connected yo my home theater system (Denon AVR3802) using an optical cable so I have no need for regular PC speakers :)

Blah, call me stupid, but I don't give a shit about that whole marketing-scheme-overpriced-shit-speakers thing. Fact is, it sounds good to me, looks good on my table besides my monitor and that's what counts for me.

I personally agree with the info in the link. Bose has great marketing and overcharges for their speakers. What it really comes down to though is if you like them or not. I have heard really high end sound systems and couldn't tell the difference between $500 speakers and $5,000 speakers. If you think what you paid for them is fair and yourhappy then that is what matters.

:thumbsup If you have the money to waste go for it. I'm always a frugal person, cheapest son of a bitch I know so I would never get a high-end system like Bose (would get a equivalent system for 1/5 the price). I'm not much of an audiophile period (I used a 2.1 speaker system for my computer until 2005 and then I got a cheap ass 5.1 speaker system [like sub $200]). I guess someone who is into music though may benefit from having such a blinged out system.

best PC speakers are Altec Lansing, best bang for your buck. Bose is a rip off.

I have my plasma right above my computer. I wouldn't mind setting up a surround sound system mainly for the plasma but that I could also pipe my computer through. I have Rhapsody for music and having that setup with a 5.1 system would be awesome.

How difficult would this be? Sound nerds anywhere?
