I just drove around for a few hours looking.... no power anywhere... trees down everywhere. trees even fell into the freeways in many places. i saw at least 10 houses with trees on them, one car that had a tree fall on it and dozens and dozens of trees that have fallen into power lines and are just laying against them. its really surreal.

It's crazy isn't it?
Looks like a War Zone - people are LINED UP For miles to get gas because very few stations have Power. The McDonald's I drove by that had power had a line for miles HAHA it's really crazy.

RRRED 12-15-2006 04:58 PM

Yeah last night was horrible!! My boyfriend has a huge portion of a tree crush a part of his roof. He's lucky though. When I was on a coffee run this morning I noticed a huge tree that had broke and totally crushed someones brand new SUV. I'm actually quite stunned we have power here.

No real damage done here though other than the hood of my car is scratched all to hell which kinda pisses me off since I just got a new one from wrecking it recently.

I'll post the pic of that car later if I can. It's nuts.

SmokeyTheBear 12-15-2006 05:06 PM

I had more trees come down just on my property ( and way way bigger ) :) It was quite the crazy week.

Finally got inet back, guess im lucky i never lost power, considering everyone else did. Was pretty fun to be out last night in downtown seattle with all the wind blowing through the streets.

Spunky 12-15-2006 07:24 PM

LOL I was saying that before i got to that part. :1orglaugh

But i feel your pain, even 4 hours without electricity sucks. I was without it for 28 days. the first 4 with no generator. It's not fun. Although I didn't have any problems with driving since there were too many tress down to even make it out the drive way :winkwink:

gecko 12-15-2006 08:51 PM

took a pretty bad hit too.

Centurion 12-15-2006 08:51 PM

Yeah..worst storm here they say since the Columbus Day storm of 1962.
I could not believe how it sounded like a jet engine roaring above and about my house all night..and I have a HUGE redwood in my yard (yeah, actually redwood..not just a big fur or pine tree) that kept me nervous all night long. I got off so lucky compared to many people..just a lot of SMALL branches down.

But just 20 blocks away, this poor lady died last nite from DROWNING in her own basement. She went down to get her laundry apparently, and the rain was just POURING down (at the time they estimated it was raining at the rate of one inch per hour..wow!), and she lives at the bottom of this hill that gave way and this wall of water came pouring into her basement, shutting the door and trapping her in the water. She had no windows in the basement and people could hear her screaming, so neighbors tried to open the door, but couldn't because they were pushing AGAINST all the water, and the fire department when they arrived had to cut a hole into the side of the house. They sent divers in and were too late..said she had been under the water for at least 8 minutes by the time they got to her.

How sad and eerie to drown in your own basement..

HighSociety 12-15-2006 08:54 PM

you are right. in Florida here and all I see is a tree that fell down, :)

JD 12-15-2006 09:08 PM

our power just came on a couple hours ago thank god. 90% of my area is black as fuck right now though :(

It couldn't.

You know..not only did we start the internet here, but we also made the first computer!

That's why we're hooked on coffee here..had to have so much caffene in us to stay up late to come up with all these inventions!:)

fallenmuffin 12-15-2006 09:42 PM

That's nothing

I'm from Florida, lol. We get worse then that every year for four solid months.

KRosh 12-16-2006 02:26 AM

man . 675000 still without power :(

It is freezing cold tonight - I feel sorry for the people with no power :helpme

unocash 12-16-2006 02:56 AM

yeah i was there for thanksgiving.. froze my nuts off. glad i got out of there before this storm.

i better call my family and make sure all its good with them.

rounders 12-16-2006 03:56 AM

damn crazy

DaddyHalbucks 12-16-2006 04:14 AM

Come on you guys, can't GWB be blamed for this somehow? I mean, Katrina was all his fault...

Vitasoy 12-16-2006 06:34 AM

Damn.. it's not as bad here but last night we got hit pretty hard too.

RRRED 12-16-2006 03:49 PM

Holy shit it's way worse than I even realized... Even though the wind has stopped, huge chunks of trees and entire trees are just randomly falling over into the streets from being so weakened.

I went to get a mocha this morning and noticed this suv parked there with the passenger side all crushed in and I just thought it was that one that I saw yesterday but no it was the girl who worked there. She was just driving down the street on her way to work and a huge chunk of tree feel from way up high out of nowhere and smashed her car. While she was driving!

So many roads are closed and power keeps going at least for me but coming back at least. Whidbey island isn't letting anyone in and the whole island is without power for the next 6 days at least. I saw at least 10 trees with trunks the width of like a car just totally busted down blocked 4 lane streets. It's crazy!

Pleasurepays 12-16-2006 04:24 PM

i am still a little stunned as well. last night in Bellevue, i wanted to go to the supermarket downtown and everrything was closed. they all were closed. everything was closed... i drove across the bridge to Seattle to University Villiage to go to QFC there and was stunned at how many areas around the lake still had no power. coming back, looking at the whole east side, there was no power at all on the lake, apart from some downtown kirkland and Bill Gates house. it was really surreal looking at miles and miles of area filled with 2-20 million dollar homes and no one had power.

today, i saw 3 cranes in Medina pulling trees off houses just on the way home.

reynold 12-17-2006 07:42 PM

Damn! Those shots look pretty serious, man..

I think we may have the making for the sequel to "Donnie Darko" here!
