Can tell Christmas is near...the baking has begun
 

My house is filled with the smell of rum cakes baking to give as gifts to a few people. Anyone else baking or prepping yet?

my wife is making rum cakes too.. and special brownies for dad :)

I envy you. I have no time to cook nor do I have the space in my apartment to add an oven without having to throw away stuff to give way.

If my Mom was still alive today, she'd start making fruitcakes to send out as gifts. Whole batches of them. It would drive everyone crazy.

I only bake once a year..my mom has been making rum cakes with this recipe all my life and has given them away as gifts to people at work for that long. The recipe is closely guarded but she gave it to me when I got married. So, I try to make them around Christmas because I know on the other side of the Atlantic my mom is doing the same thing about now.

i can tell its xmas from the sheer amount of people walking past singing LOL

yeah, we are already preparing for the Christmas season, buying and wrapping gifts...decorating our house and putting up a Christmas tree...baking a lot of cookies for the kids specially...Advance Merry Christmas to all...cheers....:winkwink: :winkwink:

there might be too much booze in them to make it through customs :)

possibly because they ate a bit of these cakes and are now tipsy
