Sponsors who will not show your stats past 30-90 days WTF?

"We can not process stats ranging more than 31 days. Please limit your date range."

What's the point of that?

jact 12-14-2006 04:58 PM

Poorly written stats backends tend to get bloated very quickly, the simplest answer to that is simply remove the data when it gets to a certain age.

Dirty Dane 12-14-2006 04:59 PM

which sponsors?

madawgz 12-14-2006 05:01 PM

sexmoney doesnt let you check back past 60 days i believe :(

spacedog 12-14-2006 05:02 PM

I know one in particular that only shows you stats by the day.. Xpays

I know another that you can only view stats by period.. no historical, monthly nothing.,.. Not naming due to GFY political reasons

Mtree don't show stats past 30 days.. or was it 60?

Juilan 12-14-2006 05:07 PM

Sexmoney = 90 days, then gone forever.
Moneytree = 31 days then gone forever.
XPays = Daily lookup, 6 months max historical.

OK now back to my question, what is the real point of that?

Dirty Dane 12-14-2006 05:09 PM

Stats should be available for at least one year. Not only for personal stats, but also for tax/accounting matters

jact 12-14-2006 05:09 PM

Our new stats system will only offer 90 days of "live" stats, but as soon as you request anything older, it will automatically generate a request to pull the data from our backup and have it ready for your viewing within 10 minutes.

A 10 minute wait is not a problem, it's when other sponsor program's stats

with sales in them (ding ding ding)

disappear off the face of the earth...

Yes, this is a very big problem. Add to it, the possibility of a tax audit where they will request access to all statistical information, etc. When I was audited, they even made me give them my Paypal passwords and all of my sponsor passwords.

Julian,
Mtree stats are not gone forever - you can look as far back as you'd like, just only 31 days at a time.

Ok thanks for the clarification, I will update that to
Moneytree = 31 days at a time.

What is the point of having the stats set up that way?

Well, if we let everyone look at any time frame it would bog things down for everyone, and we'd rather you get their stats quickly.

we can dump you any reports you need. and you can also load a prior month and view your daily reporting down the middle of the page and also access your drm stats separately from all the other commerce. also your check stubs have good data as well as the fact we email you on every join and pay period.

we will definitely address this in a way that suits webmasters if worthwhile- this is not a typical request that we receive, so please let us know if we can provide you data or service you better -- http://xpays.com/contact.html

side note- you always get paid and you get accuracy on all first page and entrance hits and we can serve all the images to your site by default as well.

and to answer your question: efficiency.

XPays 12-14-2006 06:58 PM

date range functionality and better historical reporting will be added to XPays in the near future. good feedback--

also campaign tracking within one XPays account- right now companies use a bunch of id's and we link them back to a master via a lite interface.

Yes I called Xpays last summer about it and got a nice rep. on the phone who said the tech guys could compile a report and send it to me, so yes that was offered.

We're comparing uniques to sales and value per click over periods of time to compare which sponsor does best with what traffic ect. That's why it would be a worthwhile feature to look into in the future thank you for considering it.

Indeed. It would be good for sponsors to address a more robust backend that is in line with Nats and the majority of the industry. You know, stop a second before bankrolling that next batch of FHGS, Contests, Promos or whatever and beef up statistics reporting so affiliates can see how well the sponsor's program preforms. And also have records easily gathered come tax time.

No block, check sig, to make more $ you need effective stats, not a good move on their fronts.
