Good luck with that overpriced computer:)

BlackCrayon 12-14-2006 06:09 PM

what do you really need all that stuff for? besides so you can post about it?

stickyfingerz 12-14-2006 06:11 PM

Overpriced? Thats a pretty normal price considering it includes a 20" monitor.

Intel Core-2 Duo 2.13GHz E640/Processor

that should read e6400 btw.

Alky 12-14-2006 06:11 PM

dell has much better deals

I was going to get one at MDG, but I plan on customizing mine more, and Microbytes has by far some of the best prices. They also configure computers and they have a huge selection. In March when I get back from my trip I'm going to build one from there. The only thing is, ebay has cheap prices for gfx cards, so I'll save 100 bucks or so buying it off there.

I don't know about standard...

Anyhow madawgz:
http://www.dell.com/content/products...8zKNYmxnLZ2kI=

why not something like that?

You could upgrade the processor:
Intel® Core?2 Duo Processor E6600 (4MB L2 Cache,2.4GHz,1066 FSB)
2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz - 2 DIMMs [add $140]
250GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache? [add $90]

hell...

any of these and you will be under what you paid..
256MB ATI Radeon X1300 Pro [add $50]
Dell Recommended for an enhanced Windows Vista experience
256MB nVidia GeForce 7900 GS [add $200]
1GB NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2 Dual-GPU Graphics Card [add $650] (this is cutting it close though)

then added:
Dell WL6000 5.8GHz Wireless Rear 5.1 Speaker System with Subwoofer [add $150]

That's $1,259 (I didn't add the upgrade for the grfx card, and the one it comes with isn't bad at all anyhow) and also I added a better processor on then you got.

PHP-CODER-FOR-HIRE 12-14-2006 06:27 PM

Coming from a guy who runs an independent computer shop, you're getting ripped off hard...and MDG is horrible.

ArkansasDave 12-14-2006 06:28 PM

interesting thread .... oh hum....

RawAlex 12-14-2006 06:31 PM

http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...606266&CatId=0

You could do that and have 1k left for the monitor :)

gecko 12-14-2006 08:14 PM

you're over paying man

stickyfingerz 12-14-2006 08:44 PM

Its only 2000.00 USD and he is getting a 20" monitor also. Plus its put together. Maddawg does it come with XP also, or bare?

Things that make a difference here would be

Brand of power supply and what its rated at.

Brand of ram and exact specs on it.

Specs on monitor also. response time etc.

Could I build the same thing much cheaper. Surely, but not everyone can do that. What all does the warranty cover? Do they have a 24 hour support line etc?

madawgz 12-14-2006 09:46 PM

okay, this is my first post from the new computer, its awesome! :)

madawgz 12-14-2006 09:46 PM

i will take some pics later on!

Beejeebers 12-14-2006 09:59 PM

I bought one from MDG in the summer. MDG is the worst fucking company in the world for support. They fucked up my order initially, then when I went to pick it up it was built in the wrong case. Then a month later all the fans burnt out and fried my motherboard/chip/video card/memory. Then it took forever to get a new one from those cocksuckers. Now the monitor randomly shuts off after being on for a minute.

I will never buy another piece of shit from those assholes. I paid $2,800 for mine and had every updgrade I could get. The only thing that hasn't given me problems is the keyboard so far.

I ended up getting a couple free hard drives and a memory updgrade for free for each time the fucked with me. (I had to speak to the managers manager at head office to get them though as the first line customer service people have no authority to do that)

ANyhow, good luck with it!

qwe 12-15-2006 12:04 AM

you can build one yourself for half of that

porn blogger 12-15-2006 12:07 AM

you should've gotten a mac.

datatank 12-15-2006 12:17 AM

I just paid 3k for a dell workstation
It says it has 2 3.2 dual core processors but I dont really understand how that works and 4 gig ram.
I prolly got ripped off too lol

Bryan G 12-15-2006 02:07 PM

Cool man!!

Brad Mitchell 12-15-2006 02:10 PM

I don't think that was a great deal... My advice, if you get a do over, go to 4GB of ram and go with 10,000 RPM drives.

Brad
