Get a good handicapper, play his bets, make money

I was skeptical when my friend started doing this. Seemed to easy. He signed up with some capper, takes *all* of the guys bets, every night. He's up over 50k in a year (he bets several hundred per game mind you). The capper wins quite more then he loses, so if u got the cash to keep rolling through the tough times, it works pretty well. Do any of you guys also do this?

It sounds like a good idea in theory but 99% of the cappers out there are lying scum and don't win. Just look at some of the reputable monitoring sites and you'll see that. I worked in that industry for a while and you have to look at it this way...why would a guy charge for his picks if they were any good when he can just bet them himself? Who is you friend using? I can tell you if it's a reputable service. Just remember that even the best cappers only win in the high 50 to low 60 percentile. Any capper that says he wins 80% of his picks is a scammer.

malinsky. He probably does take his own picks too. But nothing gets lost selling your picks while your at it, so the stability he gets in selling them is a good added bonus.

Dave Malinsky has been in the business for a long time and is actually an honest guy but your friend shouldn't expect that run to continue. He's always played too many games and when he does hit a bad streak he tends to bury his customers. He's been on a hell of a football run, though. Don't get me wrong there are honest guys that bet and sell their picks but they are the ones that hit the percentage I mentioned. I was referring to the Jim Feist types, the one's you see on Saturday and Sunday morning on USA Network blabbing about hitting 80% of their picks, which is nonsense. If anyone was able to hit that percentage they would be too rich to bother with a tout business.

That guy has gotta be making bank from selling his picks, he charges $350/month for his picks...

To me it seems if you pick and chose some of the guys picks, it may not work out that well..but if you play them all, it seems pretty solid. Ive seen it first hand over the span of a year, and it worked out..realy well. With malinsky at least.

You're right you can't pick and choose. I'm just saying your friend has won some money but he should expect a correction in Malinsky's percentages, as no one can maintain the percentage he has been hitting. Malinsky is also known to throw out some really shit seasons so tell your friend to make sure to manage his bankroll correctly if he continues to follow him, or he will lose all of his winnings and then some.

What's so funny about it, Daruma? You care to add anything?

Very interesting thread..

Where do you bet these? Online?

Does Dave Malinsky have a site?

StatsJunky 12-16-2006 04:16 AM

It's better to make 1000 bets a year than 100 for sure. Find someone good at Baseball/Basketball/Hockey. Football is tougher to realise profit as there is far few games in the season and more variance. And definately make sure you're not selective. Follow all their picks for the season.

If you're making plays on someone elses picks make sure you get the same lines or close to it as there may not be value if the line is off too much.

yeah but its like 300 or 350 a month. Unless you wanna split the costs, although, thats kind of illegal i imagine.

My friend uses a local bookie..but another dude i know who takes his picks also bets online with bowmans or pinbet.
