How did TwistedByDesigns not get into the xbiz finalists list?!?!?
I'm seriously confused... I know people nominated Kelly from TBD... and yet he's not there.
What's the deal? http://xbiz.com/news_piece.php?id=18553 |
Some of those are comical.

Think "top list" -- the more unique votes, the higher up the list -- make the top half dozen or so and you become a finalist. Kelly may have had nominations, but not more of them than those who became finalists. It's as simple as that. |

Haven't heard of some of those in years. |
kelly rocks and more people don't need to know about twistedbydesigns :)
so when I need another site he can jump on it :) |
He built a site for squishypimp which is an automatic disqualification.

He's probably not a paying sponsor.

unlike some "contests" we don't sell our awards or limit them to advertisers when you see some advertisers listed, it's only natural: the top companies advertise in the top media |
Better luck next year :D
|
Thought XBiz was a scam, only picking people who pay them off.
|
They can't even block cheating obviously, which is unfortunate as it hurts the integrity of the awards in the first place and will cast doubt on those who may actually win.

I've noticed you have nominees choosing to withdraw as a result of this farce. Maybe you can find a way to qualify voters by making them register somewhere prior and be recognized first. Make them be registered, with a URL and a name? Not just a nick and a unique ip #. I'm glad you're looking for ways to improve the procedure, and maybe next years won't be so manipulated. |
i voted for TwistedByDesigns :thumbsup

woah
wait up a minute are you seriously telling me the nomination process was COMPLETELY about clicking that link we saw everyone posting? and the people that got enough clicks got into the finalists? |

your method implies that eventually 10 sites nobody heard of before could get a proxy list and vote for themselves, letting out people not doing that. I mean, I cannot imagine Mark Wylde or Bruno Dickman needing to do this. Even myself, I just clicked once and post a link for my nomination which I know a few people clicked, and that's it, no sweating about that. Honestly, I see several categories where the proxy thingy happened for sure, no questions about that, including design category. Guess you have enough knowledge to determine which are the fakers and who the real ones, but the process itself as of today, is simply ridiculous. As for the thread subject, I tried to see the site in question and there's just a splash page with a link to flicker. So, the same people is complaining about is what should be done? (ie people voting for a non existing site, which leads to the same questionable voting process) anyway Kirsten, there you go :thumbsup |
I hope Kristen gets a chance to come back and read the suggestions.

This is the same reason that good sites like nnvote ultimately suck and fail (in what the intention of the site was for), as it is just far too easy to cheat. Add a simple verification system to the voting process and you kill 80% of the cheaters nearly instantly. (you would still have those who could proxy-vote manually, but the time consumption would turn off the vast majority).

meh all of these "best of awards" are just a load of crap , biased results , popularity contests , ass kissers unite
i mean in order for someone to win a catergory , the voting parties would need to be members or atleast tried the other services in the nomination to clearly point out that X company is the best for that catergory |
wtf how did IAlien not make it? :helpme
