Who has the most monitors?

I just upgraded to dual-monitor and I already want to buy a third. I can see how going multi-monitor is so addictive. I really do feel more productive.

I heard Platinum Paul has FOUR monitors on his desk. Anybody here beat him?

I have three, on three different computers...

stickyfingerz 12-11-2006 04:20 PM

Going to add 2 more to my desk. Right now I have dual 22" widescreens, and 15.4" laptop monitor. I use one mouse for each, but the monitors are used for a total of 8 computers using kvm switching and the built in switching on the monitors between vga and dvi. Ill be adding two more above the two there now for a large square.

I've got 4 x 19". Wouldn't trade them for anything.

Nice. Now I can finally picture where you were sitting while we were chatting at the GFY party. :)

I was thinking of getting a 3rd 19" to match the first two, but now I think a nice 22-incher would look great in the middle. The problem is that I am still used to my old monitor which was a 22" CRT that did 1600x1200 (my ideal resolution). My new monitors don't support that resolution but combined I still have more desk space than before (both real and virtual desk space!). It is so hard finding any flat-panel that will do 1600x1200. But they are getting bigger and cheaper by the day so I probably won't have to wait long.

BTW Platinum Paul still holds the record. Anyone with FIVE monitors?

Check for Samsung Sync master 225bw monitors. Thats what I have right now. Around 400.00 each, and the resolution native is 1680x1050 you lose a bit of height but you will adapt to it quick enough. Running duals I have 3360x1050 I had dual Crt Sony trinitron 21" monitors before and one of the main issues was the crazy heat they threw off.

When using monitors above 19 inches do DVI... VGA will look like shit. Especially at 24" or above...

Also, 19 monitors with 4:3 ratio instead of wide screen sucks... Open a notepad file you plan to do something with that has extremely long lines per row (columns per row). On a 19 inch 4:3 it will be on 2 monitors with the sidebars in the middle... On one 24 inch monitor it will fit within the monitors width and be easier to edit.

I use 3 .... 17" -20.1 wide - 17" i love it

I've got 2 19" LCDs on the Dell XPS 700 and my 17" widescreen laptop open to the left.

I'm drooling over these 31" samsung widescreens. I want one of those in the middle between these 19"s.

Catalyst 12-11-2006 09:14 PM

I got 2 machine each eith 2 monitors..

1 has two matching 19in..

the other one has a 23" mac and a 20in xerox..

..it is nice.. I have thought about joining them all.. but I felt four would be over kill.. but anyone who has it.. likes it a LOT more than 2 monitoes let me know and I will try it for a couple of weeks
