eBay: When Good Sellers Go Bad

Never, ever, ever buy based on feedback alone. Ya never know when your seller is gonna take a crap on ya.

Takes all but a hour to get over 100 feedback by buying penny auctions. I find it humorous that the first thing most people look at (and the last thing for many) is that magical feedback number. And then they wonder why they got screwed over by someone with 1000+ feedback... lol.

i recently bought alot of stuff from a person with 1000 feedback (all sales, not 1 doller buys) and the same day after i paid

This is what many do: They pad 25 real auctions to every 75 penny auctions and disperse it in such a manor that looks believable to most users. It's actually pretty hard to root these out. SOME sellers do this 'innocently'; that is they use bought feedback to pad their real feedback so that when the majority of people see their feedback score they instantly aren’t turned off. But the unscrupulous ones (and there's many of them) are the ones that do it just to sale expensive items 'on the cheap', often times in the wrong category or with misspellings. I can't believe how many STILL exist and how the number of frauds seemingly keeps going up rather than down.

According to several paypal employees I talked to, the fraud rate on Playstation 3 pre-order auctions was nearly 50%. FIFTY PERCENT! That's truly staggering that almost half of all PS3 pre-order auctions were phony... I knew the Xbox 360 fraud rate was high but I can't imagine it being anywhere near 50%.

so how exactly did this person rip you off?

atmclick 12-10-2006 11:58 PM

you can buy a hacked (probably "phished") ebay account (1000+)for ~10 bucks all day. depending on feedback. i could get a 10000+ positive feedback account for like a hundred bucks. sell one plasma and dump the acct. never buy plasmas on ebay. or high end lappys. two most frauded auctions.

He never said this person ripped him off. But if you look at the feedback, it's quite evident he ripped off loads of other people.
