Anybody been on a Caribbean Cruise?

Am thinking on taking a 5 day cruise early next year. Anybody got any recommendations as to company, ship, is it worth getting a sea view room or get a suite etc.
Any help would be great as have never been on a cruise.

well there's many factors to consider, are you going alone to get laid :) or with the wife and kids or with the boyz, what kind of activity you wanna do, swim with dolphins, waterfall climiming, relax on the beach or just walkin the town.
A sea view in my opinion is the only view you should get.
Different ship have different lifestyle some more fun (get drunk, get laid) some more relax, other are just classic beautiful ship but a little boring.

Carnival Cruise Line is the cheapest in most case, and also the youngest crowned, so the bigger party and losts fun (thats why they are call the fun ships)
to choose the ships, take the newer ship because they have more to offer.

In royal caribbean they have a ice skating ring and a stripmall in their bad boy ship. (but the party fun level is lower) maybe cause there's to much to do???

I won't name the rest the companies my finger are getting tired

last for island my top 5: st lucia, st bart, naussau (bahamas), cozumel, bora bora.
don't forget Hawaii can't go wrong there.
Hope that helps

YES get a view.

Make sure the Cayman Islands is one of the ports for you.

My favorite, I believe, was The Majesty of the Seas from Royal Caribbean. I believe the boat was only 2 years old at the time. You can find the newest boat and take it or take an old one. I know the older the ship the better ports they get, or at least that is what I have experienced from my Caribbean cruises.

I was born and raised in Florida so we use to take cruises all the time but that was 13 years ago things could have changed. I would definitely get a view or a deck if you can afford it, makes a HUGE difference in my opinion.

I've been on a few cruises over the years and IMHO, if you need to waste your money on a room with an ocean view then you are spending way too much time in your room and not enough time having fun.

Carnival is the Ghetto of the cruise lines. If you want a cruise filled with spoiled bastard children and people that look, act, and talk like they broke into the South Central Travel Agency and stole their trip then Carnival is just right for you.

Loryn is right about Grand Cayman and that is one of the stops in the Western Caribbean. I would suggest a 7 day cruise instead of 5. The Western cruises typically stop in Mexico, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Key West, and places like that.

Princess or Royal Caribbean are the only lines I ever consider after making the mistake of going on a Carnival cruise with Sleazydream a few years back. If you go with Princess then I highly suggest you stick with the Grand Class ships. Caribbean, Star, Golden, Emerald, Sapphire, and Grand Princess. The service on their other ships seems to have slipped quite a bit since they introduced the Grand class ships.
