Wal-Mart Camcorder - "Lets you capture great candid shots, especially of children"

Walmart - New JVC Page

Walmart Cache (Powerful 20x optical zoom lets you capture great candid shots, especially of children, because you can stand across the room and they don't realize you're filming them).

Yeah. I wonder if whoever wrote that description up @ Walmart got a nice visit from some law enforcement. :error

Yeah because we all know that "especially of children, because you can stand across the room and they don't realize you're filming them." doesn't sound creepy at all. :thumbsup Thank god for putting candid in front of it else someone may have gotten the wrong idea! Like Walmart did because they changed the page =)

It does not sound creepy to people that have children and have ever wanted to get a photo of them. Kids have a strange habit of becoming "aware" of the camera because it is something neat/cool/unusual and something that they do not get to use/handle....

The only people that would be creeped out are those that have latent pedophile tendencies.

:1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh Sure buddy. Kids are select-psychics when it comes to the camera and general photography, and people who don't think Wal-mart should make references in such a way have latent pedophile tendencies. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh You are too funny. :thumbsup

Nothin dirty about that at all.
You mustn't have kids .. if you did you'd know that kids tend to start acting like retards if they know a cameras pointed at them , Suddenly that perfect moment of your two kids playing together becomes a face making contest complete with booger flicking.

Speaking of which, how is this for hypocrisy: A complete Clamp Champ is worth on average 40-50% less than a complete Sorceress. How is this justice? Clamp Champ was way rarer than that bitch yet she's worth 50% more? I'll tell you exactly why as well: It's because Clamp Champ is black.

Yep, that's exactly right. Just because Clamp Champ is black his value goes down 50% when compared to the white Sorceress. Coincidence? I THINK NOT!

Yeah... I LOVED how they are finally starting to include good quality vid shots of everything. Was fucking amazing to watch in such a live manor with almost perfect framerate rather than such a delay you normally see from their cams. Wish NASA would do more stuff like that instead of the normal crap they play on the NASA channel, would actually bolster some support for the space program from the populous.

sharp 12-10-2006 05:42 PM

Rofl. I think that is kind of creepy. :D

TG Rebecca 12-10-2006 06:16 PM

they made a typo on the word "children" ("childern").. that is the first thing that i noticed. ;) but now that it is pointed out, it does sound a little weird. ;)

i don't have kids though.. but i can only imagine how unnatural they become when consciously in front of a camera. i guess maybe it should have just been worded a little better. ;)

The Nasa channel is annoying lately over the web, but really only because my Real Player is fucked up somehow and jumps around.

I've never had Real Player work well on streaming stuff, prolly cause I have crappy DSL that goes out every time it rains or a plane goes overhead. Only thing I can really enjoy on the web is flash video and let it pre-load... :disgust I thought NASA did a great job on the newest Mars rover stuff, they got the public into it. They need to do it much more often, keep the public informed just wtf they are up to, and I really think NASA's popularity can grow to being more mainstream than just the 'geekdom'.

kids often get nervous when they know they're being video taped. like at a sporting event or a school play.

where is your head at man? grow the fuck up.

wyldblyss 12-10-2006 07:09 PM

I think you have seen too much porn and assume everything has a sexual undertone to it.

There is nothing wrong with that phrase. Many parents think candid moments, catching their children just being themselves are far better than the posed/rehearsed stuff.

no lol, my eyes suck. Great hearing (can hear a pin drop in a room full buzzing computers), have to wear coke bottle glasses just to see. I think my mind adjusts and fills in the blanks a lot.

jacked 12-10-2006 07:11 PM

i guess enough people complained about it to get it removed...

It's a codec thing, I'm sure, because I get the same problem with downloaded video as with web content. It was a $12k computer at the time, so it's not horsepower.

Naw. At another place I check/post at someone posted a story about a teacher reporting a 4-year old for 'touching her inappropriately'. She gave the kid a hug and she claimed that the kid 'touched her breasts inappropriately' and the parents had to hear that bullshit, and to top it off the little kid got suspended! I said that it was most likely the kid wiping his nose on her shirt (I've seen kids who hug people and wipe their snotty nose on their shirts, I assume it's something very similar that happened in that case).

I just think it's funny that Wal-mart of all places, as big and powerful as they are, let things ilke that happen.

Pipeline Q 12-10-2006 07:37 PM

If you have a problem with this marketing then you don't have kids.

Either that or you are a perv.

Nope, don't have kids and really don't want them. But thankfully people at Wal-mart pulled the text. :thumbsup

So your problem is with the text or the camera? The camera is still available and with your way of thinking the kids are still at risk.
