re: Cat in my Xmas tree..PROBLEM SOLVED! w00t!

Yesterday I posted a thread about needing help with keeping my cat out of my christmas tree and got some REALLY great advice (thanks to everyone who helped!)

If it was just bulbs he was knocking down or something, I would'nt have cared (since I could have just bought non-breakable bulbs and such) but the problems I was having was that he was DESTROYING my tree!! It's a fake tree with about 60 small branches that you have to piece-by-piece assemble, took 3 hours just to put it together. So everyday that I was waking up and saw my tree messed up, I would get so mad because I knew it would take a good 45 mins to get it back to normal again.

PLUS, on top of that, my cat was chewing the lights at the bottom and pulling the tiny bulbs out. I didn't want him to eat one of those things or get shocked if he bit down too hard and on top of that, I already went through 4 new strings of lights. So.....here's what I did:

-sprayed bitter apple spray (got it at petco) on the lower branches and lights
-sprayed a pet repellent around the border of the tree (from petco)
-put tin foil and plastic grocery bags under the tree skirt
-put several plastic grocery bags inside the tree where he liked to climb

And the best part is, no one can tell that I did any of this stuff, it's all hidden.

For the first time since we put the tree up, I woke up to a christmas that wasn't destroyed!! yayyy! :thumbsup :winkwink: :thumbsup

Not only does he not go in the tree, but he won't even go NEAR it! lol He will walk as far away as possible from the tree when he has to pass it. THANK YOU ALL!! I now have a Christmas tree that looks pretty!! :thumbsup

THANK YOU ALL FOR HELPING ME WITH SOME GREAT ADVICE!!! :thumbsup

(as you can see, there's spots in the tree that were damaged and now the branches are all funky in different spots)
