The Original Sex.com Story (4 part video) Watch It For A Limited Time

Since SplitInfinity posted about Stephen Cohen's release the other day - a few people have asked me if I still had a copy of the documentary. I found the 4 video files late last night and had one of my guys upload it today.

If you know about the story but haven't seen it - watch it!

For the people that don't really know the story - it really is a pretty good documentary. It's 3 years old so obviously Stephen Cohen hadn't been captured at the time of its' filming.

I'll leave it up for a few days.

ENJOY!

http://www.xbiz.com/news_piece.php?id=18497

and here's something really interesting from the article:

Quote:

Kremen told XBIZ that his private investigators discovered the accounts, one believed to originate in Lithuania, the other from Deutsche Bank, but cautioned that he believes there are others.

Cohen has been ordered to return to court Feb. 20, to present the court with his financial findings.

?He will have to show back up in court or there will be a warrant out for his arrest,? Kremen told XBIZ. ?Somehow he convinced the court he couldn?t get proper access to his financial records from prison. That?s why he is a free man, for now.?

According to Kremen, the judge did not confiscate Cohen?s passport, despite the possible flight risk, so he could gather his financial records from various institutions, many of which are believed to be overseas.

?I truly hope he doesn?t flee the country,? Kremen said. ?The judge asked if we thought his passport should be confiscated and I believe we said ?no.?"

Kremen said he did not know Cohen?s whereabouts, but predicted he would know more in a week.

:helpme :helpme :helpme

Tim Dillon, Kremen?s lawyer, was unavailable for comment at press time.

That was incredibly interesting. Thanks for posting it. I had been able to pick up bits and pieces of it from boards, but it was great to see the story.

I do have a couple of questions though...

How did he end up in prison? At the end of the vid, he was still in Mexico.

And who exactly is Luke Ford? I always assumed he had something concrete to do with the industry, but I googled him after watching the vid, and my understanding is that he just writes about the industry. Is that correct?

-SECCO- 12-10-2006 11:58 AM

thanks for that ...gave me some great insight!

Don't know exactly how Stephen was caught. Again, that was filmed 3 yrs ago. I think Stephen was picked up about 4-6 months ago.

Luke Ford is a gossip columnist, IMHO :2 cents:

Thanks J$ !!!

A piece of our history that everyone should be aware of.

Luke Ford is a writer of several books. He is a reporter on many subjects, just one being porn. He had one of the best online porn radio shows since the internet opened up. He knows everybody and everything, although his sources sometimes are frauds, and Luke ends up being sued. He rarely backs down. He has a high tolerance for pain. He is attacked constantly, and he just keeps on rollin'.

His website is full of pictures, inteviews, and porn news. He has an extensive archive on just about everybody. Check it out. http://www.lukeisback.com

Sex.com's Hijacker Has Been Captured in Mexico
Category: SOFTPEDIA NEWS :: Internet Life
31st of October 2005

Sentenced to $25 million worth prison time
By: Tudor Raiciu, Technology and Science Editor

The online porn industry has proved to be very profitable for Stephen Michael Cohen, aged 57, who has hijacked the sex.com domain and made over 60 million dollars out of it.

However, Cohen's luck ended when he was arrested by Mexican authorities and then turned over to U.S. authorities because of a warrant that had been issued in his name in Northern California.

The Sex.com domain originally belonged to Gary Kremen, aged 41, who has been struggling for the past few years to get back his online property from

Cohen and also spent over $4.5 million in legal fees in his attempt.

A federal judge found in 2000 that Cohen had hijacked the domain name by forging a letter from Kremen's company. The judge ordered Cohen to return the site and pay Kremen $65 million in compensation. The defendant took of to exotic destinations without paying anything to Kremen. According to court records, Cohen had been living in Tijuana for the last few years.

The warrant orders Cohen to stay behind bars until he returns the $25 million that he had illegally transferred out of the country.

Hey Jonathon:

Thanks for the link. I had always heard bits and piece but didn't know all the details. This is a very interesting piece and has likly set prescendence for domain value.

Either way, I had started a thread that listed leaders in the industry, and this documentary certainly makes things clear for a few misconceptions of how misunderstood this industry is.

I think everyone should watch this video :)

MaddCaz 12-10-2006 10:08 PM

Cohen sat in jail in San Jose for a year, and he even resorted to contacting the court in his own handwriting. They do furnish typewriters in the California jails. I find it very difficult to read, but here it is:

Not only is the video informative, but all the articles tell an unbelievable story beginning in the mid 90's. http://www.lukeisback.com/stars/star...phen_cohen.htm

Didn't you have a photographer in your condo while the documentary was being taped? Those pictures would be priceless.

Some day, somebody better write an in-depth history of porn. You, KB, Kremen, and a few others would be perfect for telling your stories.:thumbsup

As far as I'm concerned "Part 2" will be just as compelling if they ever do a follow up. They story obviously still goes on!

Nah, no photog was there. Just a small film crew. They got some great quotes from us on film - that was good enough. :)

KB would be all over that. I keep hearing he's working on something. :winkwink:
