One has to be very brave to buy now.

Yeah right, just before the next terrorist attack...

Thanks for the advice, NOT!

The DOW is going to 7500 first.

I guess we all have to live with that thread for many, many years. But as you can see with terrorist attacks in Israel: after a few of them nobody cares, let alone the stock market.

Any stockmarket is built on sentiment. If sentiment towards a particular stock or the market in general is positive than things usually go up... but when there's a lot of pessimism watch out.

It's not just the terrorists though... its Enron and Worldcom and low earnings. The market has a long way down to go yet.

But isn't that what this "War on Terrorism" is all about... trying to save the US economy?

well its a good time to buy for long term only, I just picked up GE at 27.5 and some other for long term like 3-5 years it will be good I hope,

well u wanna get in before the market goes up. why wait till it goes up? you'll just end up missing the gains.

Im not so sure. PE ratios are still way too high. Some analysts suggest that we may be entering a prolonged period of stock market stagnation similar to the 70's.

Real estate market is not looking too attractive as of late either. With record real estate prices, we're looking at POSSIBLY another speculative bubble.

If there's one thing I've learnt from the stockmarket it 's that if you try and catch a falling knife you are gonna get hurt.

Taking reasonable risks is one thing. Foolish risk is another. The current market factors definitely militate towards caution.

FlyingIguana 07-19-2002 12:22 AM

if you're lookin for a quick buck, then use caution. but when the markets are down its a great time to buy value. even if the market drops lower, it will go back up.
