reminds me a bit of my first computer:

Had that babe for 4 years, and it never failed (just my programming skills made it crash) - later I run a 386 with 20 Mhz as a network SERVER!

That rig was pimpin for '82! I had a Commodore 64 somewhere back then. I have fond memories of getting cassette games to load on it by constructing a homemade electromagnetic shield out of tin foil and screen to put between the cassette deck and the PC.

Before that I remember thinking my friend down the street was the shit because he had a ZX Spectrum with 1 whole kilobyte of ram.

Aside from the my c64 and c128, this is the machine that brought me into the PC world:

Epson Equity I
8088 - 640K RAM, ATI Graphics Card, Dual 5.25" Floppy Drives

A screaming 4.77 Mhz. But I did add a 10 meg MFM drive!

jesus! i swear i remember this ad and there's a strong possibility to still have the magazine. Does tandy still exist? I rarely read or listen this name anymore. What happened to this company? I know for example uncle Sinclair made million $ from ZX and QL and decided to stop.

[illnet]-Romeo 07-19-2002 08:27 AM

Pretty sure Tandy is still owned by Radio Shack.

Clive sort of ran out of ideas. He tried the Sinclair C5, a small electric trike which bombed in a huge way despite massive publicity and advertising.

He seems to play high stakes poker now for a living/hobby. Anybody else who watches C4's late night poker may have seen him.

Or vice versa. Something like that. Tandy is still about and kicking.

TheFLY 07-19-2002 08:45 AM

I had a friend in 5th grade from Bogota had a Tandy... Weren't they kindof crappy? I wish I had an Amiga back then... by now I'd probably be bigger than MOBY...

Here's me...

TI99/4a
IBM PC
IBM XT
IBM AT
Swan 386sx 20mhz
Dell 100mhz
Compaq IPAQ w/ legacy ports

If they come out w/ a PDA that has better video output -- I'm off of PC's for good ;)
