Then why do we eat bacon for breakfast? :1orglaugh Cats are smart enough to look cuddly and (presumably) taste bad...

Pigs are wisely using us. Willing to sacrifice themselves for their greater goal which has nearly been achieved. Living every place humans do, then escaping and becoming feral within weeks.

Pure breeds are the inbred rednecks of the dog world. Mongrels are the smartest.

Animals have some amazing senses.

A dog's sense of smell is 400X as keen as a human's.

LOL, pugs are number 57 - that's really giving them too much credit ;)

They vary just like humans. I have my third Golden Retreiver right now. She is absolutely gorgeous and the most loving dog I have ever had. She's also as dumb as a box of rocks. I've had about 6 or 7 different breeds during my life including mongrels. The smartest - by far - was a Golden. The dumbest - by far - was a Golden.
Go figure.

I love all mine too, but they really are rather dense :)

Right now my puppy is playing with the stairs that the older dogs use to get onto the sofa. When the stairs are halfway across the room, the older dogs will climb up them and then bark because they can't find the sofa.

The 2 year old barks at her reflection in the window at night, then the puppy joins in just because the 2 year old is barking.

My 10 year old male FINALLY got housetrained last year. Well, peeing-wise. He lost feeling in his back legs so doesn't know when he has to poop.

And the 13 year old was last caught barking her head off at a stuff cat. I can't even remember how many dog statues she's barked at for 1/2 an hour or so.

But I love the hell out of all of them :)
