Why do people say shit like this?
No one can afford houses at these prices!
Kids won't be able to afford college! Life was better, simpler safer etc when i was a kid. Lets face it. No matter when you were born life is better now. Kids could not afford college then and can't now but more are going now. Houses tend to cycle on the affordability curve. It was low a few years ago and high now. Wait a few years, it changes. I have friends who are in their 40's who say shit like this. Don't they remember our parents said the same shit? and the parents before them etc? On a real scale, houses are bigger, communication is better and overall the US is cleaner. Not sure of everywhere but we have more wild life and cleaner environment then when I was a kid. Certainly less crime. Most importantly, people have opportunity that is unrivaled ever. So what there is to bitch about??? My rant is over. |
Maybe there will be a mass depression and we can all be happy again since life will be simpler :thumbsup

Yeah, inflation now is nothing compared to the 70s. Those in their 40s should remember. |
my life is way better than my parents, has to be true for most families
|
well maybe it is just my friends then. fuck it was unreal to see people in 2k ft2 houses with 2 cars and rv's up the butt whining about money. Sure they are not rich but fuck they are far from destitute too.

people have nothing better to say......
|
because the have read that in this thread

For the most part life is better than 20 years ago, BUT, one thing I had as a child that my kids don't is the ability to walk to the park and play for hours on end with the only worry being that you won't hear your parents calling you for dinner. :2 cents:

When 2 kids wanted to fight when I went to school, they had a dustup in the field behind the school. There was no fear of weapons. Today? The MINIMUM you should be worried about is someone packing a knife. |
Because some many places are telling them that things are worse.

Well all I know is when I was a kid in the early 70's/late 60's, a family of 6 was very common. But 2 parents working was very UNcommon.
I'd like to see a middle-class family of 6 with only 1 parent working these days. Is it possible? To feed and cloth them all, have proper medical care and savings and food and no public assistance and still go on vacation for 2 weeks out of the year? I dont know, I'm asking. |
good point

Humain nature. No other explanation.
They miss the past, their own past (youth). Not the system in the past. |
I think because we were taught to think this way.

I'm sure most families aren't willing to, though. |
