I need a geek!!

my computer is acting all fucked up.. couple nights ago everything froze up, & then I got a blue screen saying windows is fucking up & shutting down.. well, something to that affect..I restarted & was back up. anyway.. since then, programs have been really slow, freezing up on me & shit.. dreamweaver takes fucking forever to edit/render etc.. really too slow for me,,, I think my computer is dying on me,, I cleaned disk, I defragged, ran system check.. nothing comes up in system check?

What else can I do? If I buy another machine, is there a way to take all my programs & files & move them to the new machine? It'll be a damn long process to disk all the files then upload off disk to the new machine.

Also, all my programs like dreamweaver, fireworks, roboform, AAA logo, aceware, etc.. all this shit I don't have disks for.. how can I move them?

the install .exe are gone.. is there a way to package it back up into the .exe so I can disk it to move it?

One option is to back up your hard drive to Disk (preferrably DVD) before your computer totally dies.

Furious_Female 12-05-2006 09:53 AM

Your RAM might be bad

ok.. If I remove them & go buy new ones, when I put in the new ones, will all my stuff still be there?

I'm mainly concerned with the programs, & my roboforms passwords. I can move the files/data onto external.

As far as RoboForm is concerned all you need to do is back up your searchcards and profiles. This done by clicking on the RoboForm icon in the browser and then:

Options--->User Data--->Backup

There is another button for restoring on the same menu. Your passcards are all individual files and that screen also shows you were they are. You can just put them back after you re-install.

Give us a call at 877 ROBOFORM if you have any further difficulties.

PS If you are a Pro user it may tell you that you have exceeded your activation limit when you re-install. If so, call the no. above. :thumbsup

If you had bought the programs instead of stealing them then you would not be in this position now.

What about my MP3's?

Tom_PM 12-05-2006 11:02 AM

your MP3's will all play flat :(

If you're going to get a new computer, I'd just network them and drag and drop everything to copy. Or temp. install the dying hard disk into the new 'puter and copy.

You have been posting on this baord since 2001 and you are asking this question??? Do you actually work with a computer, or just look at it.

Im not saying that I know everything about a computer, but that question is more than basic.

pornguy 12-05-2006 11:06 AM

Aaron. DONT USE THE MICROWAVE!! You wont have hot water for a week.

Great...NOW you tell me this. :disgust

probably hardware problem so do the following:

switch off, unplug, open the case and make sure everything is properly connected - push the RAM and whatever cards you have so they fit nicely in their slots, check if cables are tightly connected too. Reboot, see if it helps, if not try the next step:

remove all the parts you don't need to boot your PC - CD ROMs, DVD ROMs, network card (you'll plug it later) etc, reboot and see if the computer works as it should, if it does then start addding components one by one until you see which one is gone bad

take a look at your CPU fan while the PC is working - see if it spins the way it should, buy air can and clean inside your PC just in case

if you have 2 memory chips it could be that the one's gone bad - remove the one, reboot and see if it works, do the same with the second RAM

well if everything is slowly booting up , its not really a hardware problem but sounds like resources getting chewed up , done a spyware/virus check ?
check the process tab to see what is running
