laptop has no power

a friend of mine is having probs with his compaq NC6220 lappie. it was working fine last night and then he wen t to use it today and nothing! :upsidedow

there is power to the machine and I have checked his charger on my lappie to make sure it is working and even if the battery was screwed would it still power up from the power cord?

the thing that seems most likely is the power supply.

if you have had a similar issue I would appreciate any advice! :thumbsup

ps: I stay clear of compaqs!

My compaq has worked fine for 3.5 years now, I'd buy another :thumbsup

It depends on the age of the laptop. Maybe it's the battery.

take the battery out and then plug the power cord into the pc and try it. it should work

then shut it down, unplug, and put the battery back in and let it charge, if it wont take a charge battery is probably fried.

Stay away from compaqs?

Umm just about every damn PC uses the same damn companies shit inside of its shell.

Dude, I own laptoprepaircenter.com and it sounds like you may have a bad dc jack. If not, then it may be the motherboard.
Does your friend have the same model laptop as you? If so try his charged battery.
Another thing - remove the battery and unplug the ac adapter. Then hold the power button for about 30 seconds and plug the ac adapter in and try it.
If you are getting leds when it's plugged in, you may try reseating your memory in the slots on the bottom.
