I think I got screwed I just paid $500 for a Wii the other day, dude said he was gonna UPS it. When I emailed him for the tracking number no answer. What is my recourse. :Oh crap

Basic_man 12-05-2006 05:15 AM

I hope you paid via Paypal dude !! :(

Twisted Dave 12-05-2006 05:15 AM

If you paid PayPal, you can get him fucked by contacting them.

Splum 12-05-2006 05:36 AM

Yes Paypal, wow thank god for paypal never thought I would say that

Klen 12-05-2006 05:42 AM

That's way there is services like escrow to ensure succesful transfer.

Stephen McTowelie 12-05-2006 05:44 AM

contact paypal and if he's legit you'll get an answer straight back apologising with some lame excuse and if he's a scammer he wont answer paypal and they'll take the money off him very hard to scam through paypal they're pretty much always on the buyers side whether the buyers right or not !

Still waiting for the release of the wii over here in blighty so would like to know what your guys opinions of it are ?

DutchTeenCash 12-05-2006 05:58 AM

contact paypal

if he has the money sitting in his account its back in zero secs, if he took it out its harder but they can charge his card

ForteCash 12-05-2006 05:59 AM

don't know where you are, but here you can look on Craig's List, get them for under $400, and make a person-to-person transfer without worrying about delivery.

Screaming 12-05-2006 03:00 PM

madawgz 12-06-2006 08:32 PM

well give the guy a little more time, i think you have something like 2 months to get your money back

edgeprod 12-06-2006 08:33 PM

$500? Wow, man, they're in stock here. So is PS3 and Xbox 360. I walked into a store the other day, NO preorder, and was able to buy systems.

When you get your Wii, toss me your Wii number!

You didn't even bother to read the post right before yours?

Fucking idiot.

Juicy George 12-06-2006 08:34 PM

Wii came out at midnight last night here in Australia. We had 6 of them yesterday! ;)

notabook 12-06-2006 08:45 PM

Glad you got your system. Just for everyone else who pays via PayPal... *always* pay via Credit Card (that's on file with PP), that way if PayPal can't help you can always do a chargeback. Never pay via echeck or let them take funds from your bank account or you are pretty much fucked.

*points and laughs at you*

There's a TWO minute difference between the posts. I posted AFTER Madawgz, and the guy's post wasn't there when *I* posted it.

Careful with the "fucking idiot" label, because I think it applies to YOU in this case.

woj 12-06-2006 08:53 PM

so a day has passed and you are panicking already? In the worst case you will just call up your cc company and chargeback the purchase...

Trouble is a lot of people have PP setup to go through their bank account, rather than a credit card. In that case you can't call up your cc company and chargeback. That's why I posted what I did a few posts up... paypal sucks on helping people in a timely manor, their fraud protection shit is pretty weak. *never* send payment via PP with a echeck or let PP pull funds from your bank account, always use a credit card.

The post prior to Splum's was made 28 hours earlier, which would've put it on page 7 of threads. You're telling me that both yourself and madawgz found the thread and replied at the same time that Splum was giving an update on the situation?

Yup! Madawgz and I share the same cardboard box. Hard to believe but true.

adultchica 12-06-2006 09:59 PM

Pipeline Q 12-06-2006 10:00 PM

glad it worked out. i'm too paranoid to buy big things on ebay from regular people. i usually only bid when they have large feedback numbers.

A chargeback may get your $ back but you can kiss your paypal account bye bye...

Aquarius 12-06-2006 10:33 PM

As everyone said: contact paypal ASAP.

It takes about 30-45 minutes where I live to open up a new bank account + paypal account, so depending on the price of the item it may well be worth it. :thumbsup

Why? You can still recover your funds.

Completely situational and depends on how good of mood the PP jerk who is reading your complaint is in. PP's fraud protection is nice in theory, completely useless most of the time. They accidentally stated as such @ the UK PayPal LOL, they actually had it in brackets that their fraud protection program was fairly useless. :1orglaugh

Chris 12-07-2006 07:37 AM

i sold some shit on ebay awhile ago
and i sent the product
and i am almost 100% sure the guy got the product
but he said he never did
so sent another product + half his money back and the douche still filed with paypal and got all his money back without any problem at all
