U.S. Iraq Campaign...
It is becoming clearer that we are going to overthrow Sadam.
We have authorized the CIA and SF to engage in covert actions. http://www.cnn.com/2002/WORLD/meast/....ap/index.html Questions: #1: At this point in time do we (the USA) have a legitimate/legal cause to overthrow the leader of a soveriegn nation? #2: Should Bush be allowed to unilaterally act if our military forces are required to overthrow Sadam, or should the American people demand that Congress be the ones to make the decision to use military force. |
#1 NO
#2 YES |
Pornmeister, you can't asnwer an 'or' question with a yes or a no. I can't tell you how many times I have tried to explain that to my wife...
Me: "Honey do you want to go out for dinner tonight, or stay in and we'll cook" Wife: "Yes that sounds great!" Me:    |
yes we have every right to eliminate him since the restrictions on assasinations have been lifted.
and no an act of war cannot be declared without congressional approval |

What I don't get is the angle on this. The white house just projected a 165 billion dollar deficit, so why would we engage in a costly campaign to overthrow a dictator who's not really proving to be a threat to us? It doesn't add up.

I think you need to get your history straight. This guy used gas to kill thousands of his own people. He lured his american exiled family back to iraq under friendly terms & then had them executed. Trust me, this guy would have no issue lobbing bio-weapons or anything else he had at both israel & the United states if he could reach us. And he more than likely helped fund that little plane attack into our WTC. Yea he's a real peach. |
No Doubt!
I would stockpile your own supplies.. I know I will :) You never know if thay can send some nukes are way. Luckily, I think we have the means to shoot them down before they would ever reach us. Let's pray that they do.. |
#1 you're a putz
#2 we are the USA we do as we please, any questions? |

Yes. Saddam Hussein is a crappy person, the world is full of crappy people, that doesn't make it ok to spend millions of taxpayer dollars to invade his country. If we adopt the attitude that having the power to do something gives us the right to do it, we are no better than the dictator we are threatening to oust. If it's in retaliation for 9/11 fine, but where's the evidence that there was any involvement? People seem so apathetic, but let me ask you, is it a cause you'd be willing to die for? More importantly, is it a cause you'd be willing to send your 18 year old kid off to die for? I'm not entirely opposed to the idea, I just think as citizens, and taxpayers we deserve a really good explanation as to why it's necessary and I haven't heard one yet.

er ... because it's a potential threat to Israel? Just a thought... |
Am I the only one who thinks that Bush should spend some of that massive defence budget on a dictionary so he can get someone to look up the work "covert"?

it's all about the oil black gold iraqi hillbillies :1orglaugh the U.S.A doesnt do this shit for the hell of it |
yeah, i read today that under Iraq there's enough oil to run the US for 100 years
Hmm, after all that oil's been used up, I'm sure we can enjoy the 60c summers! (that's meant to be centigrade. I've no idea how much that is in fahrenheit!) |
I predict if our numbnuts of a president attacks Iraq and tries to overthrow Saddam, there WILL be a third world war. And yes, the US will be hit with nuclear as well as other "dirty" bombs...
I hate Bush. |

The main problem with Iraq is Saddam Hussein is making available long range missle technology to the crazies of the world. He also wants to develop nuclear plants for "peaceful" purposes. Yeah, right. In a country that is literally floating on oil. If the crazies get the missle AND nuclear technology, we're fucked....
|
...missile...sorry...

(I'm not in the US so perhaps I don't get it rammed down my throat as much) I do think the whole situation is fucked up over there ... but what can I do about it? When you consider that Israel is the only mideast country with nukes, perhaps saddam arming himself is just self defence. :-) |
I would rather just release like 10 tons of boneprone certified crabs over Saddams palaces and let him live the rest of his life scratching his nuts off....

Congress is the only one that can declare war and they have not done this since the Second World War. GB senior came close to going to war in the Gulf with out Congressional approval, but in the end Congress voted a resolution of approval. |
I wasn't aware that assasination has been given the green light.
|
Notradamis predicted a 20 year war with some guy in the middle east named madas - which curiously is Sadam spelled backwards...............................
|
Whether you support taking out Sadam or not, Bush shouldn't do it without approval from Congress.
Bush and Cheney are under heavy pressure from all of their scandals. Do you really want them making decisions about our military, and the people in our military, just so that they can get their legal problems off of the front page of the papers? Bush also has a personal problem with Sadam because his dad couldn't kill him. Not to mention all of the money that the Bush family would probably make on the oil from the area if we took over Iraq. There are too many conflicts of interest between Bush and Iraq for him to make a decision based on the best interests of America. Even if you do support attacking Iraq, I think it's fair to say that Congress should have to approve before we make a major move. |

Bush SR wasn't able to kill him? Did you not see what happened in the Gulf when we kicked their asses? They didn't know what direction we were coming from! Their elite guard units were surrendering to news reporters. The US stopped - It's goal was to get Iraq out of Kuwiat, not to topple Iraq's government.
Third World War? Iraq and what army? Not many countries seem to be siding with Iraq these days. Iran isn't going to come to their defense. Russia doesn't seem to be able to do jack, and Chinia doesn't seem to care. It's not about oil. Fuck Iraq. If we don't buy their oil they starve; There are a dozen other countries with the oil we need. |
G W has got a hard on for Saddam as he's trying to get revenge for Saddam almost getting his dad assasinated
I say drown the whole fucking lot of them! (all bush's) |
