I have a question....and believe it or not...

I actually want your opinions for once.

Why is it that anytime the AVERAGE person hears the sound of a Bic style lighter "FLICK" that they quickly turn to see what was just lit?

I don't know too many people who have been intentionally set on fire so I'm truly at a loss as to why so many people fear that sound.

spasmo 12-04-2006 01:04 AM

To me it's not a fear of lighters, it's "oh, cool...I'm not really the only smoker around here."

So, I have to look.

Tam 12-04-2006 01:07 AM

I don't remember ever doing that myself. UNLESS it is in a room where my kids are and I know they are the only ones in that room, then I'll turn and look or run like a wild idiot and see what they are trying to burn down...... but in general, I don't think I have ever done that. Am I a weirdo now? lmao

Dude, walk up behind somebody and flick a lighter. Most people just about break their neck to see what you did for fear that you are setting them ablaze.

CyberHustler 12-04-2006 01:25 AM

I would look to see if you were lighting up some green sticky icky... If you were i'd ask for a hit

lol yeah I know I use to fuck with my friends in college if I sat behind them I'd flick flick and they'd spaz. it's weird

smack 12-04-2006 03:13 AM

simple. to see if someone is lighting up the chronic nearby.

aico 12-04-2006 05:05 AM

It's because people with lighters smoke, and anyone who is so stupid as to knowingly poison their own bodies and the bodies of those around them, can't very well be trusted to be responsible with fire.

leftybogs 12-04-2006 05:07 AM

i dont smoke but i love the way it smell...

fibble 12-04-2006 05:09 AM

lol hehehe..!

Wiggles 12-04-2006 05:11 AM

Maybe hopes of catching someone smoking weed in public?

done that many times in my younger more care-free days :thumbsup

Sarah_Jayne 12-04-2006 07:14 AM

people watch too many movies

Rhesus 12-04-2006 07:17 AM

Being a child I always wondered why some of my classmates just didn't respond to people calling their names, or to sounds - had they watched tv too much, were they dumb? I think it's natural for an animal like a human to react to indications of potentially harmful events.
