Why does adult attract so many idiots?
I know every industry has their share, but we seem to have the entire balance of overflow.
Why? Does it really look that easy from the outside? Are we the last bastion before homelessness? Do we appear stupid? What is it? Why? Why so many dipshits, like (unnamed) come to adult, and think this the fucking golden pot at the end of the rainbow? Is it the sex that attracts or is there some genuine impression of easy riches being projected to these people? Why do soooo many Russians cheat the system thinking they have some unique NEW way to cheat that hasn't been tried already? Are they just that stupid?? just curious..... that's all. |
The posting Virus has come out of remission!
For us both! Ohh shit! Watch out GFY |

In reality, they're in the marketing business, not the porn business. 99% of the people on this board are in marketing. |

Rich geeks that see naked chicks all day... Something fundamentally wrong with that :winkwink:

It is amazing some of the characters I have met in this industry. So many different walks of life and in so many different parts of this business... I have to agree that there are quite a lot of bottomfeeders in this business but I think overall they get sorted out pretty quickly. Sure there will always be a few guys that you can never quite figure out how they still operate a business but you get that in any industry.
I think we have all ended up in this business for one reason or another but the only way to make it to the top is to apply yourself and work hard. Marketing is the essence of this business. We sell the sizzle not the steak... As much as some of us hate marketing, we have to do it. If you don't you are dead in the water. I am very excited about the next 5 years to come and the technological advancements we will make in the internet. I think those that have a gameplan now and work hard will succeed. DH |
:feels-hot
Why just pick on us idiots? What about the morons and fuckwads... |

and don't misinterpret... I didn't say I didn't like them.... I get a kick outta them posting all that silly shit.... I thrive on it.... but I definately don't understand the draw.... |
Face it Amp, not everyone can be as smart as you and I. :winkwink:

re:
absolutely nothing wrong with that..... it's the fuckers on the verge of living in a cardboard box that come to adult expecting answers to be handed to them on a silver fucking platter that I don't understand.... ---- Yeah, are newbies today becoming increasingly stupid and lazy? The people getting into this biz now seem like a different "breed" than 5 years ago. |
Many good points.
Way Too much bragging. Someone working at home, no boss, no winter driving, big cheques etc. Who wouldn't be interested in that? I think anonymity is the biggest factor though. You can remain anonymous in your home, peddle porn, make big money and noone except your bank teller (cashing cyberheat cheques, among other) knows where your money comes from. Anonymity is vital to the lazy. AKA cheaters. CP, traffic trade ripoffs and every other scam you can think of, I believe, is generally perpetrated by people with whom the victim has never met. Not always but usually. In this business, next to money, your name and reputation is what matters the most. But hey, if I fucked someone over (and never gone to a convention), it's nothing that an ISP and email change won't fix. I'm anonymous. Then I can start all over again. The best definition I've ever heard of character is "What is the worst you would do if you KNEW that noone would ever find out?" There is alot of money to be made here if done properly. Remaining anonymous gives the lazy a chance to do all of the above things and more, without all of the hard work involved. Aside from the habitual cheaters though, in the end, when people realize they aren't looking at naked women all day long, and that there is alot of hard work involved, they're gone. Finally, Ron Jeremy is in the porn business. Jenna Jameson is in the porn business. I've ALWAYS considered myself in the marketing business. It just so happens that I market porn. |
"As Willie Sutton the once said when asked why he robbed banks, 'because that's where the money is'."
Well it turns out that probably isn't true, but it is what people think about the Adult Internet. 1) People confuse traffic with money 2) People confuse status symbols with wealth 3) People think the Internet is made of gold I think many see the number of adult visitors that are looking for porn and assume this automatically translates to money. It doesn't. People see people in the Adult Business - who I think tend to spend much of their wealth - as being wealthy. I have no clue how much most of these people make, but based on figures that are available for public companies - such as iGallery and Playboy - there are either a lot of companies a lot bigger out there that aren't public or there are people that are making decent incomes that don't really have tons of wealth. The average millionaire doesn't own a 50K car. The average millionaire lives in a house worth something like $380K. A Rolex? I used to work for a jewelry store - they are pieces of junk (ok maybe not junk, but no where near as good a watch as plenty of other watches). Some people really like the way they look - I don't. When people see rolex - they think $$$$. Just my opinion. |
I've been wondering this same thing for years now. Why are there so many complete assholes in this industry? Just when you get a handle on the latest virus (written by some basement-dwelling pasty-skinned homo with a penchant for adult male in diapers), you get a hacker alert or a cheater being "outed" on the boards, or you have a pissing match over a sponsor that isn't paying fairly etc etc etc et-fucking-cetera.
It never ends. From the fucker in Turkey to the thousands of Russian cheaters to the latest lamewads from India, this industry is rife with cheating assholes. And I want to know why. |
Did anyone read Danny's article in Klixxx a couple of month's ago about a webmaster organization?
Very informative, and it would probably seriously cut into cheaters etc. |
I think it's mostly because I've seen all the Ron Popeil infomercials on late night TV and needed a change of pace...

The misconception that submitting a few TGP galleries makes you a full fledged mack daddy pimp might have something to do with it.
As has been pointed out, alot of it is our own fault because there are moneyed people in the industry who love to promote that image. |

Whether your going to Taco Hell or working at Companies like Altavista, it doesn't matter. There are idiots everywhere. I can't believe the dumbasses I had to work with in the corporate world. Same everywhere you go! Just have to find the good people and hold on to them.
But I think the answer to your question lies within the News. The only thing making real money on the internet is PORN. Its always been #1 and probably always will be. According to the news. So why wouldn't you want to get into the industry if you hear its the top market on the Internet!:thumbsup |
I'm an idiot. What are you trying to say here?

This is off topic but can bank tellers tell that it's porn related just because the name on the check is "Cyberheat" or "Cyber Entertainment Network"??? What about "Innovative Ideas" or "Ibil", can regular bank tellers know that those are porn checks?? I always use ATM's but sometimes they are out of order and I have to go inside the bank. :helpme |
