Best way to screen employees?

i fix houses up and rent them out on the side from doing porn sites. the problem is i dont really like doing any work. so i put an ad on craigslist because the people i have working now who are friends and stuff are about as reliable as pulling out.

i got a bunch of emails from qualified people. besides talking to them and getting a feel for what they know how to do and refrences is there any other good ways to screen them? and is there a good place to get a generic job application?

Sensitive subject beemk - digging in and asking questions can put folks off who otherwise may be very good.

Nothing wrong with a couple of references - but you prob need to spend time checking their validity. If you know any cops, they can be useful for background. Got copies of passports or other photo ID on file as well - in the event shit hits the fan and tracing is needed.

It's boring.. but ya really need to chat to them as well to establish if they have cred and would form a team for what you want to do.

PS Only time I ever had a possible problem was with a young girl (the job was not exactly specialist anyway) - but got feedback this cutie had a spare-time hobby of robbing gas stations with a shotgun and a motorcycle. (Who would have guessed? Butter would not melt in her mouth). The cops were waiting for her to rob us - but, she chose not to and all was well :)

If they are american citizens, it will cost you about 60 bucks and you can run every single report on them, criminal record, background check, jobs etc etc.

I would suggest getting a couple of books on interviewing techniques etc...I have a friend who is fantastic at intevriews because she has done so many of them!!! She knows what to say to get the jobs but then all her bad habits come out and she loses them.

Search for them on MySpace. No joke. You can see what the person is like. Mark does it at Caesars.

May be more effective on hiring part-time highschool kids, but none the less, it gives you a look into what they really might be like. Everyone is on good behavior for an interview.

hmmmm never thought of that .
I need a few guys myself in my new downtown office going
to rent in the next month . I was also thinking of craigslist

Ask them to pull out their wiener if they're a guy, then suck it. If you like it, then they are qualified for your job...cause after all, now way are YOU gay.

Whoops. Beat me to the punch before I even noticed it.

Here's another idea: go to Home Depot. Look in the parking lot for illegals. Hold up your fingers for how many you need. Then, have them gang bang you. If they give you anal cream pie, then you know you're good to go.

sex is a great way, as long as they are female :2 cents:

sven4camchoice 12-03-2006 07:38 AM

putting them 1 time a month under a gestapo interregation LOL

E$_manager 12-03-2006 11:06 AM

Try to interview them. Ask a friend to help you to make a judgement.

Peaches 12-03-2006 12:05 PM

Running a background check might not always work - you could have someone who's never been caught being a crook or someone who's changed their entire life around. And former employers can (should) only say so much so more than likely you're always going to get a good recommendation from them.

Best thing to do is hire them with a probationary period. 30-45 days and watch them like a hawk.
