Smart Thumbs or New Comus
 

Comus just came out with a new version - anybody have enough experience with it yet to form an opinion on whether they like it better than Smart Thumbs?

I'm looking mainly for a gallery rotator - so gallery provisions, auto-thumbs, and sponsor based rotations are important for me...

anybody have some first thoughts?

don't think ST has sponsor based rotations.. i think theyre using clicks fo the rotation. comus looks like good with the new version and they put the price cheap that is very good.

Why not go with TGP-Rotator?

I like the old comus better than ST.

TGP-Rotator just doesn't seem to have as many features - but unfortunately there's no feature comparison matrix :)

I really want easy importation of sponsor galleries and great thumbs..

I might just have to try some demos.. Comus is very tempting with their lower price..
guess I gotta do some more research :)

if you take a look at smart thumbs, then comus, smart thumbs interface is way more user friendly.

you will figure out smart thumbs in under 10 mins.

you can figure out smart thumbs or tgp rotator faster, sure, they have less features, put what they can do side by side and comus will come out on top. as you grow your tgp, don't be limited on what your script can do!

Smartthumbs may have less features than Comus, but a feature rich script doesn't mean it is any good..
We could cram Smartthumbs full with features if we want to but it will only complicate things more.

What's great about ST is that it has an intuitive interface, it is fast, it is very light on the server, it has multi domain, it has a great thumb ranking system that will squeeze as many prod out of your thumbs, it has auto casting feature where ST checks the quality of the thumbs and separates the bad from the good.
ST can output RSS so you can feed your blogs.. well, i could go on and on.. but ST's features are focused on running TGP's, we don't care we have less features, features doesn't always make a winning script.


Ow, forgot to mention, the biggest sites on the net run Smartthumbs, we have a huge portfolio of sites running ST.
Some very famous webmasters are dedicated to ST..

What are some good reasons why I should buy SmartThumbs over Comus?

I dont really choose a script for its features, its important to have some basic things, but i prefer a script that doesnt consume too much cpu and its stable.

I've been using comus for years, never had any problems that were script related, as with any script, get a good host!

i allways tought thehun.net ran on a customised version of germesias brownie, i could be wrong tho that he changed over to smart thumbs. :error

plus ive seen the screenshots on the site of yours, theres one interesting one, 1mil of hits, 420k of that comes to unknown referer, now you can tell me anything but that site doesnt hold 420k of se traffic, thats some massive feeding there :) and theres one more that seriously look like that have a massive feed going on. the 780k one with 200k of unknown ref traffic.

hahahaha... it's a tough choice.. especially with comus being $100 less right now!

but - another question is, which has more pre-prepared galleries for use?? (in otherwords, not having to connect to every sponsor to download their list of hosted galleries...)

Maybe you should stop scrutinize the few screens on smart-scripts.com and do some research what other huge sites are running our script.

Anyway.. i was not planning to start some bullshit war what script is best.. its useless.
We know most of our clients are really happy, and thats all that counts..

To be exact, Smartthumbs now holds 305090 galleries sorted by niche, category and content type.
About 1000 new galleries are added each day.
About 300 sponsors participate.

So the big deal with ST is that it's really simple and easy to use, because it has less features.

Yes it has less features..

Speaking about smartthumbs i have horrible problems with installing it on other server-first attemp was succesful,but then suddenly many errors start appers.So i try reinstall,and now even install procedure doesnt wanna start,i getting error
Fatal error: Unable to read 3991 bytes in /home/*/public_html/st/install.php on line 0
And i try on two different servers and still nothing.

actualy you said the biggest sites on the net. according to me the hun is the biggest on the net. i could be wrong tho, next imho come worldsex and the likes.

i dont feel like fighting but i really tink you should choose your words more carefully next time, none of the biggest sites on the net (only going by sextracker) seem to run on st.

http://ranks.sextracker.com/ top5 here are all on other stuff then st, the number three stil runs on agsql ;) and thats only a small portion, im sure st produces big sites, same with comus, but to say the biggest sites on the net run it is a big no no imho.

It's really kind of hard to compare the 2. Smart thumbs is easy to use had has one of the cleanest admin layouts. Comus is can be customized to do just about anything you can think of but has a less user friendly admin layout, not a very newbie friendly script either.

They're the 2 top dogs in tgp scripts, can't really say one is better then the other, it really just depends on what you need a script to do for YOU. I own copies of both and like them both.

You started it by naming that site, took this from your site, so where's the update? By looking at all the screenshots on your site, yesterday was the first time I even looked, it seems the sites that are doing really good had huge feeds? We have a lot more than 2400 sites running on Comus and are willing to show you the Productivity of the top 5, I think 230% is the lowest up to over 800%

Well i have smarthumbs now so i cant buy comus unless i will doing other tgp site.

those screens are very old.. we have many more clients now.. we should update our screens..

i will sing again in the songs of praise to Smart Thumbs, all the times i use comus is ok, but does not streamline the way that i work on my sites. Maybe for some...not for me, or my clients. My 2 cents. ;)
