has anyone gone ahead and done this? if you have, are you seeing any increase in signups (that look like they can be attributed to the simpler form)?

I bet you'd get more signups -- not sure how much more but more :)

The user will feel better about not giving out less of his personal information (even though CC numbers tell all)

I was waiting to hear about this...I think that once a surfer is commited to buy, typing the city is not a stumbling block so I don't see how eliminating a couple of fields is going to help sales.

Anything is worth a go however.

anyone who has actually done it? i don't necessarily like to fuck with things that aren't broke (and things definitely are NOT broke) - but still, i'm curious...
