Word Press disabled my account. No SEO, no affiliates

I just found out my word press account was disabled. They do not allow any pages about SEO. Has anyone else experinced this?

Hi,
We don't permit sites that have SEO as their main content.
Additionally I saw at least 1 ad and a couple of affiliate links.
I'm sorry but for what you want a blog for we are not the site for you...

Thanks sticky, the only thing that bums me is my blog wasn't even adult, it was personal.

AFAIK, they allow *one* affiliate link per blog, and *NO* AdSense.

You're welcome to create a blog on one of my private hosting services. I run virtually the same software WordPress.com does, so you'll be familiar with it. ICQ me if you'd like to do that.

Boogie3 12-02-2006 12:59 PM

Put it on your own server!

There are specific advantages he's likely identified to building it remotely. I have a nice 40/60 split of remote/local, I'd estimate.

It's nice to break out of your own IP blocks and link to various places on your own network.

I was just about to do that, but now I lost the freakin' content.
Of course I didn't save it. (well the content, but not the design) And now I have to start all over.
Thats what I get for procrastinating.
Today was the day to get all that taken care of, and when I woke up and logged in, "just a quick note to let you know you waited to long and now you are fucked"

I kept putting it off, and putting it off, and now I am the idiot.

jacked 12-02-2006 01:09 PM

i think they have something about that in their TOS i read it a week or two ago don't remember for sure

who 12-02-2006 01:09 PM

I can give you free hosting for your blog, icq me.

woj 12-02-2006 01:14 PM

I'll put some feeds on your new blog using Autoblogger Pro if you'd like -- it's just a few minutes work for me.

Dagwolf 12-02-2006 01:34 PM

Free hosting will always cost you in the end.

EBORG9 12-02-2006 01:37 PM

Thanks for all the help, we actually do have our own servers, and I am getting it done now. (day late and a dollar short, and I didn't have time for that today of all days).
I am just pissed that they singled out the SEO content, as a reason to disable my blog, as if this was some gypsy rogue industry.

It was just a warning that wordpress may have a hard on.

I just wanted to let everyone know to beware, it seems word press has a hard on.

Reason #1 why you NEVER host your blogs on someone else's server, I don't care who it is.

Hosting is too cheap to take the easy way. Now you have lost everything . . . not so cheap anymore,

ummm, because they don't want you taking their rankings for their terms?

chaze 12-02-2006 01:47 PM

Seriously hosting is like $3 with auto wordpress installers. www.dwhs.com check it out.

EBORG9 12-02-2006 01:53 PM

Ok give me some time, I'm going to put my all my shit on www.dedicatedwebmaster.com and host it on our servers.
So much for having a personal page on someone elses shit.
Lesson learned.
Thanks for all the help guys.
Look out for wordpress!

EBORG9 12-02-2006 02:17 PM

Harold,

I'm sorry but I merely provide *volunteer* help on the WordPress.ORG support forums. The WordPress.COM service where your blog was hosted is a commercial enterprise that I am in no way involved with.

You will need to contact the people at WordPress.COM:

Curious where you read that? I had heard that they were thinking of allowing advertising on the upgraded accounts for "trusted" bloggers bla bla.

At the moment I use them strictly for feeder blogs with very discrete links, although I did dabble with AdSense on them for a while when you could put it in the title field but I chickened out when I heard them canceling for that. :)

not sure about the one link thing, but there is this

Either the TOS of FAQ. I had to search around quite a bit to find it. It was stripping my AdSense, and I wondered why.

EBORG9 12-02-2006 03:52 PM

Turns out I am an even bigger idiot than before,
Apparently I was reading the rules and regs for Wordpress.org, which don't apply to Wordpress.com, where my blog was.

Even though I hit the "reply" button when I was alerted to my crime, I was not replying to the right "WordPress", or was apllying rules from the other "Wordpress".

All the same, shame on me. So instead of being greedy, I am going to take one of the domains I had for sale, and use it for myself.
Big lesson learned.

I'm sure I am the only idiot to assume they were the same rules.

Should have stayed with blogger.
Jeez, it was just a personal page, no paypal or nothing.

Thanks I'll have to check again.

On a related note, Have you come across AdSense for feeds yet? I was trippin' when I saw someone else's AdSense in a post on one of my wp.com blogs from a pulled feed a few weeks ago. Apparently AdSense for feeds has been in very limited beta for a year or so. I would love to get in on that..until it gets too popular and a "disable ads" option is given when enough people get pissed about showing other people's ads :thumbsup

EBORG9 12-02-2006 04:09 PM

No really, thanks guys. (thats funny) I have a bunch of domains, and we have servers in 3 different locations,
I just got really attached to the blog, and I didn't save the design.
You know, it was personal. I was just getting the content to sing.

I will have another one up sometime tonight or tommorrow, on our servers.
It's just that good original content that sings is hard to come by, and that one was flowing.
You ever get on a good roll, and loose the file.
Its almost worse than blowing a "threesome".

I've pulled some feeds with AdSense in it. In cases like that, I'll usually keep it in there instead of stripping it out with Autoblogger. That way, the person syndicating the feed gets the AdSense revenue, and I get the content. win-win.

For me some links are fine, but a big fat AdSense block is too high a price to pay for content... but yeah I hope everyone thinks like you if/when I get approved for feeds. :winkwink:

EBORG9, You must be able to get at least some of your lost content from caches on your own PC, the SE's and archive.org?

EBORG9 12-02-2006 04:52 PM

Yeah, Im checking on that now thanks,
I was on the phone with a client, they called just to say that the link I sent to my personal page is dead, and I sold them some traffic. (Blam!)
For that, it was worth it.

I think most people try to be reasonable. I figure .. they're getting something, I'm getting something.

There's a guy on here, buds-something .. babes, maybe? He has this HORRIBLE website, and he cries a RIVER every time someone pulls his feed (I can't imagine WHY they'd pull it). He just doesn't get the benefits, and he apparently never will. It's people like THAT who are the most annoying. Shit, I'll let ANYONE pull my feeds, if they give me a quality link back, etc. It's gotten me so much traffic, I'd be a moron not to allow it.
