Go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and scan your computer. It's a free tool from TrendMicro, and it's a pretty good one. It will remove whatever virus it finds on your computer.

I use spysweeper but that best thing you can do is go onto google and search the spyware or viruses or whatevef you and search how to remove it

Loose parts inside of a computer can also cause it to freeze, for example- unplugging your CD rom drive, hard drive, or any memory while the computer is on.... perhaps a cable is just loose?

hm, sounds more like hardware problem than a virus

another vote for webroot spy sweeper :thumbsup

I had to buy a new laptop about 2 months ago because of spyware.

I put spy sweeper on the new one from the start and have been fine since.

I also opted for their virus protection too.

I like pie, actually.

AVG's released their own adaware (they only had virus scan before).

Try it at http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
