Girl savagely raped - blood on the front page of the geelong addy wtf?

Ok, just great morning reading, girl gets savagely raped, rushed to emergency. So they have the crime scene close up on the front page of the geelong advertiser, u can see her clothes and shoes on the grond right where they did it and blood smattered all over the freaking wall, all front page of geelong advertiser. This sucks, sure these ass holes exist, nothing new there, but having this in explicit detail on the front page of the paper is sickening. I think journalists are scum, sure we need to know whats going on, but imagine the damn girls mother seeing that on the front page of paper, u could basiaclly see the brand of the jeans, disgusting.......

Fucking terrible. Sick, sick people out there. By desensitising people to such horrors they are contributing to the creation of such disturbed people.

After Shock Media 12-01-2006 08:04 PM

BTW do not hate the journalist, nor the photographer, hate on the editor.

spacedog 12-01-2006 08:16 PM

To graphically display the horrific details adds to the shock factor in order to elicit emotion from the reader. By actively projecting this form of expression, it causes the reader to react outwards in response. Had the editor chosen to only publish the girls school photo alongside the article, the outward reaction would likely be passive, like, "Oh, that poor girl", whereas with the particular method selected, they entice outward reaction of anger, fear, sickness, horror, so that it is now active, likely to cause community involvement in reaching some sort of positive outcome in rectifying the issue.

Jennifer C 12-01-2006 08:43 PM

Hmm I can see both sides. But I also think that respect for the girl and her family should be given first, above shock tactics which may eventually help find the rapist...that's if they don't already know who it was.

nekrom 12-01-2006 08:49 PM

Ya talk about bloody crazy shite mate. But this area is starting to go a bit ass backwards lately.

rayadp05 12-01-2006 09:29 PM

Yes, whoever chose to put the photo on the front page, it aint friggin rotten.com or whatever, but thats where I would assume to find a pic like they showed.

What happened was, the two video security cameras where the rape took place, somehow didnt work at the time, it sounds like they knew something about the cameras, its too much of a coincidence

Thanks for psychology 101 :thumbsup

Bottom line, the papers and media care not one little bit if anyone is caught, they love the shock factor and want to sell more papers, and my point is that I dont think its appropriate showing that huge pic on the front page of the paper, with her blood over the wall and what looks to be her jeans on the ground, right where they ripped them off. Also the family should be considered IMHO. I know the media does this all the time, I was a bit shocked by this specific paper to do this though.:2 cents:

No I wasn't being sarcastic. I agree it's too graphic even even for a tabloid shock value type of thing.

Not saying she deserved it at all of course, but let's hope that pic makes a few thousand girls think twice about walking home alone when drunk and through a deserted central city area.

ForteCash 12-01-2006 09:49 PM

ugg :( sucks

shekinah 12-01-2006 09:56 PM

that was pity.. sucks eww:(

notabook 12-01-2006 10:02 PM

"It's a particularly nasty rape. It certainly ranks right up there and we'll be doing all we can to find those responsible.''

Uh... 'particularly nasty'? What the FUCK? Something that horrible, that vicious happened... and they call it 'particularly nasty'??? That's like me saying "Ted Bundy was kind of a bad man" or "Hitler didn't really like the Jews". What the fuck.

No worries, I thought you were meaning there wasnt much blood. How the hell is it all over the wall, its disgusting, thats something right out of "monster" with charlize theron.

In a perfect world it would be nice to be able to walk anywhere safely, however, girls are crazy going to night clubs by themselves or leaving by themselves in any CBD of any city in the world imho, just too much risk.

Yeh, they had 9 crime specialists there, particularly nasty meaning they basically mutilated the poor girl, sick bastards, why did they have to subject her to torture, the rape alone would be horrible enough for her. No cameras, I wonder if they will find them. Shame those phazers/tazers are illegal here, I think women need them in their purses, hell I would have one on me after dark around cbd area, u just never know .

Heh, I'm actually going to agree with notabook. Is this a sign on the Apocalypse?

Yeah, this rape was pretty damn violent...but just the wording doesn't sound right. Do they look at other girls and say, "it's ok...you weren't raped that bad"? WTF?

gecko 12-01-2006 10:32 PM

That is fucked up :(

Fuck that...some people aren't even effected by tazers. I used to zap myself with my stun gun because I liked the way it felt. lol. You wanna protect yourself from a rapist or a any other kind of criminal...carry a gun! Shoot the fuckers cock off so they can't ever rape anyone again.

Vitasoy 12-01-2006 11:35 PM

Culprits should be skinned alive

AA. 12-01-2006 11:48 PM

The criminals should be hung from a tree with barbwire to the balls ..........

And yes think about the family with it on the front page.

Sell that newspaper no mater what .... fucken journalists.

GAMEFINEST 12-01-2006 11:53 PM

disgusting.......zero tolerance ...BULLET IN THE HEAD for the assholes who did it

Nysus 12-02-2006 12:12 AM

It's the same reason they use the word 'disaster' when a place that normally gets snow storms, gets a snow storm.. to draw other people in to watch and listen.. Terror doesn't work as well today as it did a year ago .. will be interesting to see what word they can use next..

Matt

Exactly! Some thing "the poor mom might see this" You think she hasn't seen her daughter? Her daughter lived through it. That is the reality of it, that is what makes it so horrific, and that is what makes us stand up and say, we can't let men get away with this!

As well as entice excitement, lust, longing from sick perverts who wish to commit such acts.

And how does a community "rectify" such a horrific crime? Thats what the justice system is for, the perpetrators will be punished. You think by posting bloody images it will make the community safer?

So posting a bloody picture is going to STOP MEN FROM RAPING women? It wont deter a single man who wants to rape a woman. WTF is your point?

CaptainHowdy 12-02-2006 10:13 AM

Sick shit...

ForteCash 12-02-2006 10:15 AM

What the fuck kind of name for a paper is the "Geelong Addy" anyway?

sounds pretty gay. :2 cents:
