Would you help a friend???

Say you had a friend whos husband is away in the Marines, he is somewhat a deadbeat dad, he spends money on shit he shouldnt be buying, so Kelly can't afford to buy her daughter toys for christmas, WOuld you buy the kid some toys or let them deal with it on there own?, I have known kelly for 16 years and she is like a lil sister.

jimthefiend 12-01-2006 01:11 PM

Seriously though, if they are still married there are all kinds of peeps who help out military families during the holidays.

selena 12-01-2006 01:16 PM

If it was a friend I had known for 16 years and was like a sibling to me, then I would buy their child toys. I would likely grumble and bitch about it in my mind, but I wouldn't let the child go without.

I'd also suggest they to as JTF mentioned, and find out who helps military families.

TurboAngel 12-01-2006 01:18 PM

Yea I should have said it would be very nice of you.

:)

the alchemist 12-01-2006 01:22 PM

great idea I agree

Strickie 12-01-2006 02:34 PM

I would do it just to ensure the kid had a good Christmas.

Karupted Charles 12-01-2006 02:44 PM

You could use the good carma . It makes up for us always keeping the sushi staff late for our midnight dinners.

HammerALL 12-01-2006 02:48 PM

Bro your a good guy - get the kids some toys - it may just guilt the dad into opening his eyes a bit

E$_manager 12-01-2006 02:48 PM

Why not? I see no other answere. Or is there an obstacle that i don't know?

It's relevant you consider your friends and a nice gesture man :thumbsup

Kiwigirl 12-01-2006 03:14 PM

Pete, you would make a really cute Santa! hehehe
Buy the kid some toys! Nothing over the top.
It's the thought that counts and I'm sure that both friend and child
will appreciate it.
Thats what friends are for, to help you out when your in need.
Remember, tis the season to be giving to the less fortunate.
:)

Hell yes I would. You have known Kelly for that long, I think it gives you the right..... I wouldn't go buying Kelly diamonds or anything, but for her kid, hell yes. Christmas is ALL about the kids.. so hell yes, go for it. Don't give it to them like some pity thing though, you have known Kelly long enough to "just do it to be doing it" sort of thing. I don't see anything wrong with that at all. :thumbsup In fact, I think it is very noble of you to think about her kid... :)

What I would do if it were me, buy her a bunch of small things she likes, Barbies, Artsy stuff, whatever she likes... kids LOVE opening lots of packages, I know mine do. My 8 yr old would rather have 30 small things than one big thing. And I agree, don't go over the top... just the smaller things. My daughter loves anything to do with Bratz, Barbies and things like that..... as most little girls do.

Peaches 12-01-2006 03:34 PM

If he's in the military and not supporting his wife and kids, then she needs to go and talk to someone. The military is VERY strict about servicemen taking care of their families.

mattz 12-01-2006 03:37 PM

If you have known her for 16 years and are good friends...I would say yeah, be a good friend and help out...thats what friends are for

sicone 12-01-2006 03:40 PM

if its for the kids then yes, you should help out

Pete-KT 12-01-2006 03:43 PM

Thanks everyone

Wiggles 12-01-2006 03:49 PM

for sure, its for the kids.

Mr.Right - Banned For Life 12-01-2006 04:06 PM

needlive 12-01-2006 04:12 PM

Why not you'd be a good man to help out a friends family! :thumbsup

Lazonby 12-01-2006 04:16 PM

I'd probably pretend that I can't decide for myself like I'm stupid or something, then make a thread about it on GFY to hype my image up a bit and get a couple of sig views in the process.

Skillz Unlimited 12-01-2006 04:27 PM

This thread is boring

If you buy the kids gifts either give them to the mother or write Santa on them. No need to cock fight with the father

Good point. And don't fall for the "My 2 year old really wants a 64 inch widescreen TV" bit. My brother tries that every year :thumbsup

jacked 12-01-2006 05:56 PM

your hearts definitely in the right place pete, and right in tune with the christmas spirit. just make sure that your that those kids get their toys and the money doesn't go elsewhere.

and when "daddy" gets back from the marines you should give him i nice talking to, obviously he's got a screw loose if he's more worried about providing himself with material things and not toys for his own children on christmas.

Vitasoy 12-01-2006 09:13 PM

Anything to brighten up a face of a kid :)

Ohface 12-01-2006 09:13 PM

Go for it.Friends help each other out and that's what they do best.

EBORG9 12-01-2006 09:33 PM

Sign of not only a friend and a gentleman, but of a man.
Definitley do it, 'tis the season.

shekinah 12-01-2006 10:03 PM

Christmas is for kids, so they should have some toys:)

rounders 12-01-2006 11:53 PM

Yes I would buy toys for them!
