Are PR 5+ porn sites THAT uncommon?

I think I've only ever seen one website with free content that is pr 6. I've seen plenty of PR 5 but that seems to be pretty much the highest anyone can get these days. Am I wrong?

tranza 11-30-2006 06:30 AM

Pretty uncommon indeed...

darksoul 11-30-2006 06:32 AM

its obvious that there are less PR6 and PR7
but they're out there

who 11-30-2006 06:32 AM

Will there ever be a PR 8? I doubt it... Those fascists at Google....

Machete_ 11-30-2006 06:32 AM

its because those sites with enough content dont do enough to make the site readable by the spiders, and there are not enough text

fris 11-30-2006 06:33 AM

i have seen lots of pr6 and pr5. myself i have only gotten pr5 at the most.

Google is penalizing adult sites, it's well known...

Yes, but how well known is the extent of their penalties?

There must be several penalties applied to adult sites, for example:

(I'm just making these up, have no proof of any of them)
  1. Adult word(s) in the domain name
  2. Adult text in the title tag
  3. Adult keywords in the other meta tags
  4. Adult text on the pages of the site
  5. Links from sites with aforementioned qualities
  6. Links to sites with aforementioned qualities

I'm assuming each of those points brings some small penalty to your site. Perhaps also if two of those points are found, it's an extra penalty, if three are found, it's an even higher penalty, etc. That way, sites with just a little bit of 'adult' content won't get penalized as much, and sites with nothing but adult will get penalized the most.

So, how can we get around these penalties (which don't just affect pagerank, but your site's rank in the SERPs)?

it has nothing to do with that.
http://www.alladultchannel.com has everything you say and its a PR6

the reason adult sites don't get high PR its because of the linking
structures used.
Everyone links through scripts (tgp/mgps) or through affiliate links which
give less value that a straight hardlink to the site.

I don't agree that it's the only reason, but it may be a contributing factor. Even with the penalties, it's not impossible for a site to be PR 6. I just wonder if it would be something like PR 8 if the penalties did not apply.

tell me one adult site that you think it deserves to be PR8 (and why)
and I'll tell you why its not.

Martin3 11-30-2006 07:04 AM

What darksoul said.
It's the way all the linking is done with adult sites.

Well come on then, can you tell my why and how you have proved this? It would help a lot of people if you had run some kind of experiment and could show us the results.

darksoul 11-30-2006 07:06 AM

if you noticed the trend, blogs started to get high PR and
the reason is the linking structure.
