how big can a mysql db get?
 

Before it starts messin up 10mb 100mb 1000mb ?

is it innodb or myisam

How are the tables structured

What type of machine does it run on

it depends but its not that low
we have a few databases of 10-20GB running fine.

as darksoul said you can easily have large databases in mysql

but I would really consider reading up on db design if you wanna have such a big database.

it could affect your pageloadtime drastically if you make a bad design.

what polle says about optimization is definitely right..

assuming everything is kosher, the only real limits on the size of the database are ones imposed by the type of filesystem you're using. i.e. ext2, ext3, reiser, et al.
