anyone play spades?

ok, so i'm learning how to play by playing at msn games, and my only question is....how the fuck do i get -100 points sometimes? is there a certain number of tricks that you go over and get penalized?

It has been many years, but as I recall, you choose how many tricks you will win, if you underbid too many times there is a penalty . . . it might be for 100 points, but like I said, it has been a long time

that makes total sense, but i wonder how many times that would be?

The only people I know who play that were in jail.

:(

dude if you go blind or nil and you don't get it then you go negative 100... if you go blind/nil at the same time you go negative more...

nil = zero bags taken by you (not your team)

btw - you are teamed with the player across from you on there...

My dad taught me to play hearts, spades and cribbage by the time I was old enough to differentiate between suites and numbers, and he never did time.

This is your answer above.

In the local games here in Syracuse NY biding before the deal blind and not pulling enough tricks will cost you -100 regardless of how close you come .

I thought you meant black women..... :2 cents:

ya... a missed nil bid is -100.

a missed blind/nil bid is -200

a missed bid is -x10 the bid amount.

extra tricks (bags) add up to 10 and then are -100 points.

So, if you're making your bids, you're most likely getting -100 for underbidding yourself and, over the course of multiple hands, getting +10 bags.
