OK ... am I crazy ??? I'm no longer into over priced fancy cars..(cars i just bought)

OK .. I used to be all into fancy cars that cost a lot ... i guess to show off and what not .. as i posted already .. my wife needed a car for her and the kids .. she wanted Mini Van but i was able to slip out of that ... I ended up getting a Honda Pilot fully loaded / navigation /Leather ... sticker about $36k .. not bad .. after getting it ...I really like it and was shocked that I almost went for a $55k Yukon and what not ... then today ... find myself needing a commuter car to take to the office .. I end up getting a USED yes USED Honda Accord .. again Fully loaded 2004 with 36k miles on it ..it's Honda certified and I got it for $14k ..payments are like $240 a month .. It's just like my Acura TL-s type minus a few horses ... the car rides nice ...

Did I lose my mind ... I went from range rovers and acura's to Honda's ..and I'm happy with it .. I feel free that I no longer feel that social presser to compete and show off .. it's just to really nice practical cars ...what do you think .. is it age that is changing me ?? older wiser .

Nah just getting wiser with your cash.

Now that your saving so much though, you can contact me to spend some of it. :winkwink:

I have a pilot also and its a decent ride for the price. Works great for me having to drag lights/gear to shoots and still be able to fit a person or two in it comfortably...

You still listed the features of the vehicles, I think you're in a 10 step program :)

I hear ya man. the ole $ dont seem to grow on tres lke the old days. I leased my last 2 cars. And I went to test drive a 535 with the wife last year. And right after words drove by the Nissan dealership. as we drove by she saw the new Maxima she was OHHH I LIKE THAT ONE!! I slammed on the breaks. We walked out with a new maxima and she liked it way more. As well I saved about 20K lol and the lease is only like $250 a month. LOL

nico-t 11-29-2006 08:16 PM

ermmm honda IS acura my man ;)
the NSX is called honda all over the world except in the US/canada if im not mistaken

pocketkangaroo 11-29-2006 08:19 PM

I think everyone goes through the stage of wanting to show off. You eventually get out of it and realize there are much better things to put your money into. Either that, or you just don't give a shit what other people think.

My motto is:

"it's none of my business what other people think of me"

Yeah .. I know that .. it's all Honda Finance .. The acura is just their high end like Lexus/ Toyota .. I was surprised at how much nice the honda's have gotten ... almost as nice is my Acura's ... I'm glad i saved the money on the Pilot instead of the MDX ....:thumbsup

That Honda Accord feels the same as Acura TL because it's the same car dude... Acura TL is just a Honda Accord with a different body, and some bells and whistles added in... the engine, suspension, etc are mostly the same...

Yes I know ... I was paying more for the nicer leather ..more horse power and better suspension .. plus the body style was a bit nicer ..

My car is 10+ years old, I could buy a new one but I prefer to save for other things.

paterson3713 11-29-2006 08:36 PM

Personally, I still like my luxury cars. I find a big difference in how cars drive, and since I love cars I don't mind blowing my money on them to get what I like.

danevans 11-29-2006 08:38 PM

2 years ago I had an italian AlfaRomeo 156, really beautiful car to look at and it had nice engine sound, but as most italians it was a piece of junk that broke down all the time and it was the time of my life when I was riding in a taxi more often than in my own car. Showoff factor = high, but I ended up hating every bit of it and I cannot explain how much I loved my audi A4 that I got afterwards, everything worked and it has never let me down. I'm sticking with VW & Audi (german cars hold their value). Right now I got a golf :D and I can't remember if anything ever broke down on it, the car simply works and I don't care what others say (millions of those cars on the streets, boring, women drive them) fuck that - I'm no longer best friend to some car-mechanic lol.

Exactly... Brands like Lexus, Infiniti, and Acura only exist in North America because of their obsession with social class and brand-name consumerism :winkwink:
