Yahoo Search Marketing Changes

well got this email

thought .. wow they are so gone .. lol

why would anyone in their right mind will advertise on a program that

1. has the worse traffic ever.

2. is going to be a closed market

so basically in this new system they will change you what they feel like when they feel like

lol

i say yahoo.. will be sold by the end of next year.

whats your opinion?

In early December 2006, some of the information on the Manage Bids page will no longer be available. We will be removing the "Top 5 Max Bids," "Position" and "Your Cost" columns from the current account interface. The View Bids tool will also be removed.

These columns will be replaced with two new columns of data:

* Estimated Average Position
This displays an estimate of the average position your listing may achieve, based on your bid and the current bids of other advertisers.

* Bid Range for Top Positions
This displays the current range of bids other advertisers are willing to pay for the positions at the top of the search results page.

who will buy it?

Tom_PM 11-29-2006 01:48 PM

Well, I think replacing the EXACT facts with estimates and ranges looks like a step back for the advertiser.

Have to wait and see how it works exactly and how accurate things are and how easy it is to see where my ad ACTUALLY is and how much of a bid it takes to get there.. used to be simple, lol.

Google could,

Google can make 10x the income yahoo is making now and they are good at targeting so you pay for what you want.

if on Google you are paying for US traffic you get US traffic not 98% Indian traffic and 1% from Africa :)

i am sure some people would like to buy Indian traffic .. but i am not one of them yet.

whoever is running yahoo marketing is out of their mind thinking taking more control from advertisers will make them more money :)

I agree. In my opinion, YSM sucks big time. They act like they are doing you a big favor by taking your money.

yahoo sucks.. google rules...

DigitalPimp 11-29-2006 03:43 PM

I used to use Yahoo years ago for my own sites but when I tried to promote sites I was an affiliate of they told me they did not allow advertisers to use ads that send visitors to a site other than one you own. Anyone know if this retarded policy still in effect?

MarkMan 11-29-2006 04:25 PM

i really don't suggest you use them DigitalPimp,

unless you know what you are doing .. they will scam you.

they will not be sending you much traffic then .. all of a sudden they will take your daily budget multiply it by 30 and send you all the traffic in one day

the traffic would barely convert .. and you will find yourself with a huge bill

re being an affiliate .. its all about the reviewer .. one time they will reject it .. the next time they will accept it

sometimes they will reject things that don't make since .. and if you get a good reviewer they will accept anything..

funny really

but i am done with them.. they are crap and now they are going to hide the real bids on the keywords

DigitalPimp 11-29-2006 04:42 PM

Markman, thanks for the info. When I wrote that I used to use Yahoo I meant the PPC ad program being discussed before it was bought from Overture by Yahoo so I am familiar with the inconsistent quality and quantity of traffic and would largely agree with your accessment. Regarding the affiliate listings, I guess I just got unlucky or my account got taged as none of the affiliate ads I submitted over the years got accepted. The amount of business they lose to AdWords for this one policy alone is probably staggering.

MarkMan 11-30-2006 10:27 AM

oh DigitalPimp after yahoo bought them they became worse.. much much worse

pornpf69 11-30-2006 12:17 PM

Yahoo wants to suck some more ballz!!

MrPinks 11-30-2006 12:44 PM

I hate that they are stooping down to this. They are hiding the true bids and positions which is very shady. :(

WiredGuy 11-30-2006 01:31 PM

Their new system is trying to copy Google as much as possible. Not very well I might add.
