Boxing vs Kick Boxing (vid)

K1 Match in Japan.

Story goes that the Boxing guy was positive he could hold his own / win vs a Kick Boxer with just his boxing ability.

2min vid.

interesting vid. Arms alone are no match against legs + arms

A boxer will always get OWNED against MA. ESPECIALLY MMA. :1orglaugh

pretty obvious outcome. kinda hard for a boxer to get in close when all the other guy has to do is keep his head back and attack the legs. usually only takes about 3 half assed shots to the outside of the leg to short circuit the nerve and make his leg give out... which doesn't give a boxer much of a chance.

both of those guys looked really sloppy and sad and out of shape. :(

insert *owned* pic :)

Those leg kicks hurt like a bitch! I've been kicked in the leg before sparring and it's like it drains your energy like a siv.. Really amazing how much they hurt, takes a hell of a lot of conditioning to withstand numerous leg kicks.

HeadPimp 11-29-2006 10:25 AM

Pwnd...

Dumbass... A boxer can hold their own in a kickboxing match, BUT they need to train to defend against kick, elbows and such. A lot of K1 fighters throw hardly any kicks. This guy had obviously never taken a leg shot before.

Muay Thai is not trying "to kick their legs". the low kick to the lower thigh is aimed at the common peroneal nerve which will short circuit after a few blows and cause temporary paralysis in the leg. has nothing to do with conditioning. usually takes 2-3 shots... and they don't even have to be really hard.

Yeah it hurts something fierce and it makes your legs feel dull and slows you down.

Tough match, even if the ending is a bit obvious.. :)

Anthony 11-29-2006 11:04 AM

That was classic Muay Thai.

Muay Thai > Boxing any day of the week.

Denis_SC 11-29-2006 11:27 AM

That white guy was Russian .... :pimp

Sharky01276 11-29-2006 11:36 AM

As a huge fan on mma ive seen many many fights where the guy has hardly thrown any kicks, and owned the other guy.

The problem here as mentioned above is the guy didnt know how to defend against kicks, or get him self in a position where the other guy couldnt kick.
When the boxer moves in he lowers his head, really stupid with the other guy can throw knees. You watch other mma fights when the go in with punches there not looking at the floor!!!

Sharky01276 11-29-2006 11:40 AM

Prime example.

well the start any way, then the video goes on to show the guys a fucking hard nut with his legs as well lol.

Nicky 11-29-2006 11:48 AM

A boxer stands no chance in hell against a MMA fighter unless he is lucky and gets a early knock out

Crocop is a hard nut for sure :)

DjSap 11-29-2006 11:58 AM

well duh....legs are longer than arms so you have quite the advantage...

NinjaSteve 11-29-2006 12:24 PM

great job!

Vitasoy 11-29-2006 10:26 PM

Well it's with K1 rules what do you expect?

FelixFlow 11-29-2006 11:12 PM

look at the size mismatch....had it been reversed, i think the giant boxer would win vs the small kickboxer

gecko 11-30-2006 01:06 AM

K1 is a combination of kicks and punches.. boxer is just a puncher. Obviously not used to leg kicks as you can see.

tony286 11-30-2006 01:12 AM

Do the K1 guys make more than the ultimate fight guys?

In a word, yes.

But the UFC pay is slowly but surely coming up.

dunefield 11-30-2006 02:02 AM

I can't view that video on YouTube but the boxers K1 gets are old washed up boxers like Ray Mercer and Francois Botha... It's hard to compare these fighters since they're not in their prime... Getting Mayweather Jnr vs Masato would be a good competitive matchup...

Danny_C 11-30-2006 11:22 AM

Doesn't individual skill level have anything to do with it? That one demonstration doesn't prove that kickboxers will ALWAYS beat boxers.

But yeah, when you're only used to fighting in a way that imposes really strict rules of conduct, it's going to be hard to know what to do against somebody used to fighting with few rules.

Metalsound 11-30-2006 11:35 AM

This one remember me the time Mike Tyson challenge Bob Sapp in an MMA fight.

interracialtoons 11-30-2006 11:51 AM

Stupid comparison. The kick-boxer doesn't have to worry about getting kicked himself so he can attack very easily from a distance without even think about getting hit.

Kickboxer versus street fighter is a more even match.
The street fighter may not be able to kick but he can grab the kicker and body slam him.

xxxdesign-net 11-30-2006 12:02 PM

What does that prove? Were those 2 at the top of their game? Grandpa Frank Botha did beat Jerome Le Banner... This boxer obviously never prepared against leg kicks..

(and yes, Frank Botha also had his ass kicked by other kickboxers... and his victory aganst Le Banner could have been a draw.. but it proves they can fight and hang together, just need proper training)
