A Farewell to my dearest friend

I had to put my dog Vampira down that I've had for 10 years this past Saturday.
It was the single hardest decision that I've ever had to make in my life.

She had a great life and touched many people. It also really showed me how many people love and care about me. phone ringing off the hook for offers of sympathy or to hang out. Thanks to everyone.

If you've got a dog or cat laying at your feet right now, give them a hug.

sorry for your loss - losing a pet can be every bit as painful as losing a human friend.

It sucks, but at least there is no pain now. I always wish i had the chance to put my last cat to sleep, rather than lose her the way i did. She was killed by 2 morons who live near here.

So please think of it that way, and always keep the memories... :thumbsup

I'm sorry for your loss. I also put my dog Hamlet down last Saturday. My dog would have been 12 in January. The decision was extremely hard but necessary as I owed him his right to go with his diginity. Once again sorry for your loss.

Here is a little something for you that made me feel a little better...

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

awww so sad :(

Prairiegrrl hit the nail on the head.

It's sad when us humans keep our pets past the point that we should. It is difficult when the selfishness of human need come into play. It is always more difficult to do the right thing.

I will always remember Rocky. My best friend. It was his time. I didn't want to do it, but I had to do it for HIM. It was his time. It was hard. I cried. I fed him a nice steak before it was time to go. He was always there for me. I do no regret putting him down. I had to. I could have kept him alive for another year, but his life would have sucked and I would have done it for me and me only. Now, I remember him in the good years. The years he was there for me and the years I was there for him. It sounds fucked up, but he was my best friend. That's what pets become. You understand each other on a different level. Remember the connection you shared and not the end of your pal's good life, just the good times.

Life is an experience that is ever changing. Embrace the best of those experiences.

The above may sound sappy and fucked up, but it's true. You have to remember life. And also realize that in death there is life.

I'm sorry for your loss but kudos to you for doing the RIGHT thing. Remeber your pal and have no regrets for doing the right thing.
