Can a CRT monitor, have death pixels too?

There is a pixel in my CRT monitor, showing permanently in black color. Is this a death pixel?

im not sure...sorry

SlamDesigns 11-22-2006 11:12 PM

You sure it isn't just dirt on your screen? I've never heard of having dead pixels in a CRT.

That's a tiny spy camera the U.S. government built in to keep an eye on you.

betabomb 11-23-2006 12:24 AM

CRT's can't have dead pixels. The image is "projected" on to the screen. Same as a regular TV.

If you look closely at a LCD monitor you can see the millions of tiny squares.

biftek 11-23-2006 05:38 AM

the image on a crt is the result of excited electrons , so no you can't have dead pixels on a crt , you've got dirt or some crap on your screen , a damp cloth and clean it down , next time watch where you shoot

irbobo 11-23-2006 06:28 AM

No. Thats not really a problem with the CRT technology.

i love sub atomic excitation :winkwink:

jimthefiend 11-23-2006 06:36 AM

You're all wrong. Yep you can have them. Most likely dirt INSIDE the gun though.

jimthefiend 11-23-2006 06:40 AM

You can get "dead pixels" on a crt, just not stuck ones. It's dust blocking the gun.

bl4h 11-23-2006 06:44 AM

wow thats fucking amazing. Last night i noticed a tiny dot in the center of my CRT. I looked closely and i can see individual pixels and this one is DEAD. Its the shape of a pixel. it is a pixel.

There IS such thing as dead pixels, but not in the way an LCD loses a pixel

Im thinking its a video card thing. Something is wrong that keeps it from rendering that pixel

Could be DUST as well. Mines right in the center of the screen

CreatineGuy 11-23-2006 07:02 AM

shit, im fucked, samsung told me that it's a dead pixel. and that they only change it if the monitor has at least 7 death pixels. shit shit shit... never buy a monitor if you don't see it before. shit shit shit.

Marshal 11-23-2006 07:41 AM

maybe that shit inside the tube is broken...

CreatineGuy 11-24-2006 03:29 PM

Update to you guys, it was a piece of crap that was inside the CRT (between the glass and the display). It came that way directly from the factory. Fortunately, the store where I bought it, changed it for another one.

Cheers. ;)
