Book Recommendations Needed: Self-Improvement Books With Buddhist Perspectives

Just read a book called The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari and I am very interested in other related books of fables...that discuss Buddhist principles of self-improvement.

What should I check out?

Even books like The Alchemist or Siddhartha would be appreciated.

well...

a few interesting ones you could enjoy - might not be exacly buddhist but hey!

Tao te Ching - from Lao Tse

"The Doctrine of Budha" - Siddharta Gautama

also read a couple oriental books that you could enjoy:

Hagakure - Yamamoto Tsunemoto (about the samurais)

Kodo - Ancient Ways - from Kensho Furuya (about marcial arts and the character of the true martial artist)

Check em out and let me know if you like them!

Cheers,

Bruno Dickman :thumbsup

it's not buddhist, but I recommend "The Power of Now."

re-reading your post, you are looking for parables. hmm. Maybe "Illusions" or "jonathon livingston seagull" by Richard Bach.

I'd be intersted as well. I prefer stories (like "peacefull warrior" or "celestine prophesy") to non-fiction self help books.

"One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" is also good.

Yes, sorry I did mean parables and the like rather than non-fiction motivational stuff like Covey's Seven Habits... Preferably ones that are inspired by Buddhist principles. Thanks for the recommendations.
