Want to see a boost in ratios? Then open your site up to the surfers.
 

OK this was not my idea, it came from a chat with an affiliate and seeing what a few others do.

Up until August we had a normal tour, except for the models page the surfers had to guess what was inside the site. Ratios were climbing as the traffic grew less in quality to 1-650. Then September we opened up the site, so the surfer saw everything he was buying.

Ratios dropped to 1-500 over September, in October they dropped further 1-330 and are staying around this now, 1-350 on more traffic. These ratios are all traffic affiliates and ours.

If you think about it, it's totally logical. A surfer sees everything he will get for his $30. OK only the thumbs but it's better than just a normal tour.

Here are some of the benefits. You are welcome to add to them or tell me the disadvantges.

A) SE bots now visit us every day, with the text of all the site and it changing daily it's very interesting to the SE spiders and got visits from about 60 of them in the last few days. Is this good?

Yes I need to optimize the text and working on it all the time. Not very good at it. :(

B) The affiliates get to see what they are selling. Gives them a far better idea how to sell your site and reassures them they are not selling a site ripping off the surfers.

Also enables them to target promote one girl, by adding the page they want the surfer to go to they add the landing page URL to the end of their CCBILL link page. So if you want to promote a girl like Grace, you add this at the end.

C) Lets surfers see what they are buying. In a market that sadly has a portion of people who think screwing surfers is the way forward this shows the surfer you are to be trusted. Big think when you're asking for $30.

D) Screws the competition. How many site are better off by NOT SHOWING the surfer what he's buying?

One of the best things for this industry, in my humble opinion :winkwink: , would be VISA making all sites do this. Yes it would screw a few sponsors and sites, but think about how it would improve trust of those who buy from us and more importantly those who do not.

OK, don't come back and tell me what a little site I have, how little traffic I have and what an arrogant idiot I am. I know these things. :1orglaugh

I'm telling you because the more who follow this route the better we make the business and a few affiliates might give me a try. Yes clever spamming. :1orglaugh

Nice idea. I've just got a new CMS which I believe will allow surfers to view the members area without them seeing the big pics and movies, so I think I'll do the same :)

I have to say this is a good approach, point d is a very valid one, the number of sites I have vetted who were requesting billing services that basically were nothing more then a couple of sets or just dam right nasty inside far out weighed the number of sites that passed :-)

Excellent Idea Paul, In fact we've been doing exactly this for TeenDreams for 2 years now.

We opened up the members area originally because TeenDreams was so huge their was no way to convey this to the surfer by using a standard tour. The additional benefit is they not only see how big the site is, but also the quality of the media.

It works well with sites like TD and PMT, however, Im guesssing many sites would prefer not to do this, as it may put potential members off given their members areas are not quite as dynamic as their tour.

E) Exposes the inside of a hardcore site to potential underage viewers (yes maybe less than that of the affiliate sending the hits but still)

F) allows the sponsor to pocket money from any x-sells, cause you know a lot of sites practicing this business model will look for ways to fuck the affiliates.

Again, nice ideas though. It does make some sense. Also... this is what a lot of mainstream sites do as well as content providers, so it isn't new, just revised.

Your tour/site has been one I've admired for years and one of those that gave me the idea. Plus seeing the stats on the content stores.

Good points, however.

E) Most tours show hardcore and most surfers come from hardcore content sites. Come up with an effective way to keep anyone under the age of 21 out of my tour and I will sign up for it. They don't buy porn generally.

F) Improving affiliates earnings on the same traffic is screwing with them?

I wonder how many hours a week do you spend analyzing your site/traffic ?

Tommys old site New York Whores used to do it years ago.. it did work really well.

A long time program that pretty much everyone considers irrelevant and a dinosaur has gone this route recently. They require the surfer to sign up for FREE (but have to give their CC info) and they can then browse the entire site but just can't watch the movies or see the full size pics.. The nice thing is that they're paying out on that free join with a rate that's as high or higher than some PPS companies that pay out on trials. I hardly send them any traffic and given the site changes, most of my stuff is off target but I'm making more with them now then I was before.

That is very good idea Paul! I don't pay for porn but if I did I would be a lot more tempted to buy If I new what I was buying I think a lot of these tours only show glossy pics and onece paided to get in they have little content

I agree with the strategy of showing more (but still keeping the tease) if you got it. That's why we made the new Joon Mali tour.

For once I totally agree with you. The paysite I am working on uses this strategy.

Perhaps we'll try that. I like the extra teasing of the potential client idea.

A lot of time, what is very interesting is the number of pages they click before they sign up and that it would seem more sign up now on their first visit. Before it was after a few visits.

When it comes to traffic directing I know nothing, but it's easier to analyse where and when people sign up from your tour.
