CCbill tactics
Hey, i just saw this post on AWI, i'll repost it here:
----------------------------------------------------------- We just noticed something here. Now I might just be the one that feels this is wrong but anyway let me show you. We signed up for our own members area just to see the process and also to make sure everything was working properly. We use CCBILL by the way. Anyway .. we cancelled the membership and we got an E-mail today from CCBILL confirming our cancellation and stuff. Below is from the E-mail: Your membership with ********* has been cancelled as of 2002-07-13. Your account will become inactive on 2002-07-17. Please allow us to recommend some other adult related sites that may be of interest to you. The following sites utilize CCBill for their billing needs, and you will continue to receive the same world-class service if you choose to join them. http://www.hornybees.com/cgi-bin/Ca...Cat=1&PA=163231 Now do you think that is right of CCBILL to do that to our members if they cancel or if the membership is over due to the one time billing ?? So they E-mail every single member that cancels with CCBILL and promotes these other adult websites in this E-mail that they send to our members. I mean I think it's kind of like taking our business from us. Especially when you do one time billings and not recurring. It would be a different story if CCBILL would give us the credit if someone would happen to sign up for one of those sites. But I don't think they do. I think it's wrong to do that. What do you guys think? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
I think I have to agree with you here.

CCBILL addressed this last year i think and said thats something you can change to promote your own shit or something like that. That link leads to a list of ccbill sites so its not like they are tring to score ARS signups or something. LOL But, i think it might be better if they just left the promo off it.

You can customize that don'tcha know? That's just the default place they link to...but you can set it yourself to go to one of your own sites or an another paysite....
Anyone else using ccbill up for a trade of cancellation email links? hit me up [email protected] |

that's right... I remember that now. I will have to change that. |
Screw it why should you even care? Really if they are leaving your site that would me one of two things, First your site sucked or they didnt want to keep looking at your members area. well there are several other reasons but running my own paid sites I know why my members leave and why they stay. When ever one leaves I email them to see if there was someting wrong. If there was I fix it then give them a 3 day free pass just for the hassle!

yup i think thats wrong if its true. the owner of the paysite they signed up to should have 100% spamming rights to that email, haha

I have never used ccbill for cc processing. but a cc processor that i have used before allows me to create custom cancelation forms, billing and rebilling forms, and much more. I thought that was uniform among most of the adult cc processors. That sucks that ccbill does that.

set your custom page to go to an affiliate or another one of your sites.

I do not think that a company should take 12.5% of my revenue, and then spam people when they leave my site. If they are making money off my viewers, I want to be clearly informed of it-- and I want them to charge me less. I do not think this is a legitimate tactic for a biller. :321GFY
I am glad I have a custom email set up. |
