Installed a sony DVDR and now my machine is shot.
Any here have a DVD recorder? I installed one on my windows XP machine amd 1.9, a gig of ram. I followed all of the instructions, not the first time I installed anything, I built my current machine. Any way I was trying it out last night and after about 30 minutes I couldn't get it to work, started to pull it out and noticed that all around the ram was what looks like burn marks. My machine is fried can't get it to reboot.
I wanted to know if any one knows what might have gone wrong? Any ideas would be of great help. fuel |

Sounds like you fried your memory board, those burn marks tell the story. There are so many chips now these days, just possible you added the wrong ones. If this being the case, I would not be surprized if you burned out your motherboad as well.:( :warning

Yeh your mobo is probably freid, happened to me around a week ago. Sucks, but I took the chance to upgrade to a new Asus DDR board with 512 megs of ram so it wasnt that bad. :)

btw I dought its from the dvdr itself that the mobo is fried, did you ground yourself before you did install?

Yes I ground myself before I open any machine. I did fry the mother board and the ram. I was terrified that all my content was wiped as well but it seems to be there. I should be up and running on Monday. thank god for my lap top. I think it was the ram I promise to never buy non-name brand again
