Any advice thankfully accepted

A bit of a stupid topic but I genuinely want an overall opinion.

We are going out tomorrow to look at sofas. Our old one was second-hand to begin with and is now pretty much fucked. What I want opinions on is the following...

Ottoman or Recliner?

We have fairly limited space (smallish room) and are trying to figure out what will yield the most comfort in the least space.

Like I say, slightly stupid topic but I'd be glad of any and all imput.

Thanks

Wish i could help, but i dont use couches or beds. bad for your back. The floor is the best place to sit or sleep.

Come on guys, I know most of you spend your lives with your bottoms glued to computer chairs but SOMEONE must have an opinion!!! :winkwink:

RW316 07-13-2002 03:43 PM

i prefer a recliner

digi 07-13-2002 03:47 PM

I like em comfortable.

Terenzo 07-13-2002 04:01 PM

no kidding - this is the funniest thread i've seen on gfy!!!

but, i am sorry, i cannot help...

Stupid indeed, you didn't explain shit! Let us assume that you want a chair for your office as if you are sitting in front of your computer. Go to Wal-Mart and buy a $15.00 office chair on wheels, it works very well, as long as you don't mind supporting a store who should be run out of business:mad: :warning :2 cents:

Beastiepoo 07-14-2002 03:50 AM

I didn't say I wanted a chair. I want a sofa. Probably a 3 seater, probably leather. I also did not say that money was an issue, as its not. We are looking for maximum comfort in minimal space. It also doesn't behoove you to assume that everyone lives in the USA. I have no access to Wal-Mart. I wouldn't shop there even if I did, but I don't.

I admit that my original post was slightly cryptic, but in my defense it was late at night and I was VERY tired. I didn't even manage to spell 'input' correctly and I've only just noticed that now. :helpme

So anyway, I doubt I'll get much more response but I've said it once and I'll say it again...

Ottoman (footrests) or Recliner (seats) for a sofa. Max comfort in minimum space is what we are looking for.

Any opinions greatfully accepted. :thumbsup

P.S. Thanks Terenzo! I try to be humorous even when I am looking for advice.:1orglaugh

Nobody had noticed though :winkwink:

You're on fine form this morning. Whatever you've been eating/drinking I want some!

I still say the recliner!

I agree with Tipsy on this one, go for the recliner sofa. Reason being, when you need more space you can close up the reclining ends, but with an ottoman you can't. It's gonna sit there and take up much needed space. :)

You need to go to Pier One and get some of those canvas deck chairs.

Nothing says summertime like canvas deck chairs!! You can line 'em up side by side just like your living room is the Lido deck from a cruise ship!

The fabric you use should be 'Kent' (Dunno if you have it in anywhere though).. It's damn easy to keep clean, pretty expensive shit, but feels good too :thumbsup

:2 cents:

This isn't something you can ask here...

Get a tape measure, piece of paper and a pencil.

Make a detailed map of your room.

Make a detailed budget of what you can afford to spend.

Go to no less than 3 stores and TRY TRY TRY your own
ass on anything that fits the above details. Figure out
which are the best 3.

... then FUCK IT ALL, your wife will make the decision
without you!

mjrools23 07-14-2002 06:55 AM

i like em leather

Um, I'm like the rest of you. I don't have time for real friends. Who can make friends when you spend 18 hours a day in front of a monitor???

Besides, I DID day at the beginning that it was a stupid question.

Anyway, I have made my decision. Reclining leather 3 seater...now just what colour? Hmmmmmm......:helpme
