Server Load - 1.05 <----what is that #?
I just checked and my server load is at 1.05
how high does # go? it is a dual xeon server, is 1.05 high? |
nevermind, figured it out
1.0 is basically 100% with a dual xeon I can be there pretty safely |
Depending on what you do, a server can run at 20 load and still not be shitty.

it is a pretty beefy machine too, dual xeons 2gb ram from what I can tell as long as it isn't a constant load of 10-20, I should be fine |
your server load should not be above 1.00 (per processor core)
so if you have a dual xeon, anything under 2.00 is optimal. :thumbsup |

you shouldn't be worried, 1.05 is 105%. good luck! :thumbsup

Seen servers with 80, they still lived :)
|
load averages: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00

yeah, we launched our video encoding systems last month and at had some issues where we were getting loads of 58 and above. I'd really never seen a server load like that before.

Is it not a measure of process loads, meaning that there is no waiting queue if the load is <1 (all processes are served immediately), while the delays increase with loads above 1?
I have had loads around 40-50 before during peak times, but with some optimization I was able to decrease it to 5-8. |
I've seen 200+ on a server that is about to die, swapping to hell and back. It took a couple of mins between typing the cmd and seeing the output. :1orglaugh

My load average is 30%
|
I had a dual xeon server with 4 gb ram in it hit 85, i had to wait 5 minutes to even get a root prompt to check what the hell was going on.
