New leaked Fox News memo clearly shows promotion of bias

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15750535/

Quote:

Dated November 9th, the morning after Democrats secured control of both houses, obtained by the huffingtonpost.com, it states:

?The elections and Rumsfeld?s resignations were a major event but not the end of the world. The war on terror goes on without interruption.?

Then it brings out the old, a vote for Democrats is a vote for terrorists chestnut:

?Let?s be on the lookout for any statements from the Iraqi insurgents who must be thrilled at the prospect of a Dem-controlled Congress.?

Then there?s another dig at the new majority:

?The question of the day and indeed for the rest of Bush?s term is what?s the Dem plan for Iraq? This could be a very short live shot for Jim Angle, but he?ll try.?

And finally a reiteration for the network to continue to try the scare the crap out of the American people:

?We?ll continue to work the Hamas threat to the U.S. that came hours after the election results. Just because Dems won, the war on terror isn?t over.?

The Columbia Journalism Review pointed out that hours after that memo was issued Fox News live desk host Martha McCallum reported from New York that there were,

?Some reports of cheering in the streets on behalf of the supporters of the insurgency in Iraq that they?re very pleased with the way things are going here and also with the resignation of Donald Rumsfeld.?
Change the facts to fit the agenda. That's outstanding journalism!

Ok, well we all knew 1 network liked Republicans but if this is "news" why don't you post about all the other networks that are Democrat biased. Perhaps you want every channel to be pro Democrat so you can at least have a fighting chance?

that is such bullshit and so far from the truth the media is so not liberal. Its a talking point to make sheep feel special.

it doesn't matter which direction the media is biased in.. this kind of bullshit doesn't belong in the media period. newspapers were always intended to have crap like this in their "editorial" sections. the american people aren't intelligent enough on the average to separate fact from biased opinions in the media. maybe it's time that the media is required to label stories appropriately.

Although it has better journalism, the BBC is easily as bias as Fox News.

Cummon :winkwink: The BBC and most news media have their little problems, but at least they can be called "news media". Fox does not even come into the category of news media - it's equivalent to the old USSR state operated TV station. There's an irony there somewhere :pimp

what else do you expect from FOX

The funniest thing that Fox News has done recently is the night of the elections they had up their projected graphic and projected republicans to win the senate for like two or three hours even though democrats held a slight edge in the 'too-close-to-call' states. Every other station had it tied neck and neck, but not good ol’ Fox, they had it Republican 51 to Democrat 48.

They've been doing this for quite some time. Looks like the documentary "Outfoxed" wasn't such a liberal wacko hit job afterall.

LittleMack 11-17-2006 05:28 AM

I dont watch fox but there was a news story on CNN leaked memo also, all stations are biased.

Beejeebers 11-17-2006 06:58 AM

The best source of U.S. political news is BBC uk...

its pretty disingenuous to point out so called bias at fox and ignore it in those quarters where you drink *your* kool aide.

C'mon 12clicks...you're a smart guy from posts I have read from you. You are a republican and I guess you have your reasons for that, but you can't deny the fact that FOX is not even in the same league as far as bias goes when it comes to the media. Even you can admit that.

CNN is biased to a degree. MSNBC aswell, but then there are shows like Tucker and Scarborough country that bring it back to center somewhat. FOX news even aspiring to be called a fair and balanced news agency is laughable at best.

FOX ran a headline this past week that read: "Are democrats sending the same messages as terrorists?"

lmao...c'mon man.

At this point nobody should be surprised and should know what they are getting when they tune in.

My favorite line from election night is still 'with her San Francisco values'.

haha... that line was great. I think I enjoyed them playing that video of what would happen if that black guy got elected, how he would go after their white women. The ad got pulled a day after it was made but Fox News played it more than any other station while doing their 'commentaries' rofl. "Was this ad bad to do?" Then they play the ad... jeez, fox news really can get away with anything a slong as they put a question mark at the end.
