Anyone own a Toyota FJ Cruiser ?
I sort of like the look of them, any first hand expriences here?
|
i dont, you have pics?
|
don't buy one. buy a Dodge Nitro, or go get an old school toyota cruiser....
hell, check out the International Scout II - that's a bad ass vehicle but here's a pic http://www.autobytel.com/images/carc...0/1C2B9065.JPG of the fj cruiser. |

I own one, picked it up in July and it still puts a smile on my face driving it.

Very solid with definite off road capability but they are huge gas guzzlers. A full size Chevy Tahoe gets better gas mileage. My 2 friends that own them get about 16 mpg on avg.

JFK, I imagine if you bring a nice deposit, they'd be happy to let you take the car out for a few hours or overnight, so you can see what the mileage is like? PS: I also want one. :)

|
Dont own one.I was just about to purchase one about two months ago and decided to hold off a little while. And now Iam glad I did because as soon as I find the option and color combination I want.I will be sporting the new Dodge Nitro.
|
Looks great but if the mileage is that bad I would reconsider!
|
cool retro design
|
They also have an FJ TRD coming out soon if you do not mind waiting a little while. There are pics of it on www.toyota.com already.

i hope someday i can have one :) |
saw one in the US last time, they look cool, but theyre kinda pricey as well
|
I picked up a VooDoo Bule one, too...the same color that's pictured here. Big pros are looks, and cons are gas guzzle and you really can't put anything big in it if you wanna, say, move a couch or buy something big and take it home. It's deceptively small in the back, even with the rear seats down. The seats are easy to take down, too...which is a pro. I used to drive a Honda Element, and the seats were a pain in the ass to put up, but man - you could fit an elephant in the back of one of those things!
I'm glad I bought my FJ though...it's a head turner!! |

nope......
|
My neighbor has one and he loves it. Up here we really do need 4WD and he said it's worked flawlessly.
|
It looks good, or even their 4runner. I checked out different consumer auto guides about reliablity, safety, and features, and Toyota is always on top.

I've seen some dealers around here mark up the price by an additional 5 grand. |
IMO, this isn't something that would be your "regular" car, right? I have a Wrangler that's my fun car - I can't get a sports car up and down these hills, so a Wrangler with manual transmission and a top that goes down is the closest thing for me :)
But my Cherokee gets HORRIBLE mileage. I don't think I've ever gotten over 16, even on the hwy. Usually around 13 in town. I have no idea what the Wrangler gets because I have to figure that out manually and I'm too lazy ;) |
they are kind of ugly and attractive at the same time...ive noticed that the color combos really make a difference whether they look good or not...
