Seo Experts get in here
I moved to a dedicated server and pointed my dns info to my new host 3:30AM EST this morning & everything propagated fast.
Unfortunately to my surprise, this afternoon all of my rankings for my main keywords for 2 of my sites disappeared. That was the only changes I made to my sites. Is this just a coincidence? Ever hear of or experience this? Any idea what happen? |
Coencidences happen all the time in this industry. From my experience with DNS changes its been fairly instant. As long as your website was already set up on the new server before the switch I can't see any down time which would cause a ranking drop.

to my knowledge there was no down time
I had all of my content on the DS before I pointed to the new dns info |
Did you leave the previous server active as well?
If you changed DNS then deleted all your old content, many visitors/spiders may still be hitting your old IP until the DNS is completely refreshed across the Interweb. |
Shitty luck of the draw then man....
|
strange, bump for you to find out
|
if all this happened within 12 hours like you say
seems a bit fast for SERP listings chances are you were going down anyway |
