Yeah, the ads are messing up sites. Just easier to pull links I guess and through up something else.

Prior to this thread being started:
12am. (Central): Went to check my webcams.com stats to find a PNF error. Went to the main Webcams.com homepage to find a page saying Webcams.com was down for maintenance. The time frame on the page was from 6pm-9pm central (11/15/06). Initially, I was in a "that figures" mindset as I had sent sent 226 hi-qual's there for the day (Adwords) and the damn site's been down for 3 hours. Shit happens. Then, my perspective changed a bit when I made the connection that it was now 12am...and that 9pm comes before that. Dude, it was 12am., too late to do math. :winkwink: On that same page, there was an 800 number. I called & spoke to the guy politely (as in not like a raving 'I've been screwed' nut-job...cuz I didn't think I had been) and was told that the site would be up by 2am (central), they were running into problems with the maintenance. Closed it off asking how long it had been down, he said "8pm"... 2:30am - Webcams.com redirecting to an IP. Page there, no images, no cams, no affiliate area. Worst of all...no mention of what was going on. 4:30am - No change. That's what happened before this thread started. So, I just checked again now, seems to be fine. No sales outta those 226, if you wondered...not a real shock, all things considered, and nothing to freak over but it does make you question their commitment to their affiliates for two simple reasons: 1. If the maintenance was planned, it should have been communicated to their affiliates as soon as possible. 2. If the maintenance was not planned, it should have been communicated to their affiliates as soon as possible. If the sponsor does not have the time or decency to squeeze out a statement, paragraph or even mention a downtime of that length to their affiliates...I doubt their members know much more, further (okay...potentially) impacting my bottom line. So, regardless of what I am or am not making with Webcams.com, this type of stuff drops them a few pegs in my affiliate pecking order of programs to promote. We're talking absolute minimum effort here...if they can't give it, personally I'd find someone who can. Oh yea...Hi, I'm Jim. :thumbsup |
We had planned maintenance and posted this on the webcams.com website
We got our own IP addresses and had to re-number.. It had to be done sooner or later and we are crediting all affiliates a pro-rated amount for all of their sales based on their average sales volume for the 6-7 hours we were down, and giving half credit today based on slow DNS propogations |
Oh, further, we had 'down for maintenance' index page during as much of the process as was physically possible
|
Wurked fine on my mac.
|
That's great. I'm not here for a pissing match, certainly not here to debate the 6-7 hour claim but seriously...you're not done yet, at least in my neck of the woods.
I'm at webcams.com right now: If you can see this, it means that the installation of the Apache web server software on this system was successful. Which ISP's DNS servers do you use?
Ping webcams.com and tell me what IP address you get please |
Correction, it's back now.
Great. |
Great :) DNS was changed 22 hours ago so surely any major ISP wouldn't cache for more than 24 hours
|
you bunch of whiners fuuuuuck cant they upgrade to own ips..... fuuuuuuuck
they said they were going to pay you anyways DAIMN good work guys enjoy your new ips. in case you all fucks did not know by them having their own ips (class C's) they are now fully redundant anywhere they want to be. fucking ignorant fucks LOL |

Love the PR verbal inabon - tho you are right :thumbsup |
Well affiliates have a right to be upset about lost sales but we are compensating all affiliates in a fair way that is very costly to us over all but in the long term it is better for us to upgrade. We really apologize about the downtime but tried our hardest to go as fast as possible with the changes. All of the servers (over 30) had to be physically moved from one floor of a datacenter to another, and had to be cleared through security. This took 2 hours alone, then all the cabling, IP configurations, etc. was a lengthy process.
Again, we are very sorry to everyone for the downtime but will compensate everyone accordingly. We hope our hosting is very fast and everyone converts great. We have some great new features coming out soon that will hopefully make us the best all around webcam site available for everyone to make a lot of money off of Thanks! |

if they announced maintenance they hell affiliates should have read emails like i did LOL it is just stupid to call out on a board just for the fuck of it. maybe if they were posting less they could have read the warning email and notices about maintenance. :) |
Whining and wondering are not the same thing.
The most idiotic and immature sounding statement so far is from inabon, and that's likely related to a language barrier. Finally, maybe you don't, but I have a list of programs I promote in order of ROI. At no time did I say "Webcams.com" sucks, just that they went down a peg. The scheduled downtime page referred to had a window of 6pm-9pm. Whiners would hit the board at 9:01 pm. It is perfectly acceptable to begin to wonder WTF around 12am...with no posts to any major board made until this thread. Check the time it was started. Considering the number of posts both of you have, it seems you would already know that vs. attempting to start something that really isn't there. |

you could have easily sent an email to support and ask but it had to come to the board and make them look bad anyways if you do biz on the boards all the power to you however i am pretty sure that fact determines success :) anyways webcams has spoken i am just here to bitch at you for being a board bitch instead of a professional with an email account. and do not tell me emails were bouncing cause they were not they replied to me no problems at all yeah i am an affiliate too LOL |

You sent an e-mail and got an answer. Great, you were "bitching" before me. I'm sure you and the thousands of others sending e-mails had no impact on the delay in getting the site up. I waited many more hours than that before I even "said" a thing. Too bad you didn't just come in and answer the question yourself...but helping doesn't seem to be your strong suit. I did not make Webcams.com look bad, nor do I believe they are bad. Simply think that if you say you're going to be down 6-9pm, and you're still saying that same thing for 6-7 hours...people are going to wonder (which means "bitch"). Please. |
Sorry for starting this thread, I didn't mean to start any shit with it, and quite frankly I thought it would be dead and buried by now.
|
I'm still getting the IP http://200.0.202.27/ and all the images broken. Maybe it's my ISP that is shitty, but it's Comcast in Chicago, which I'd hope would be pretty solid.

question has been answered and no an email does not mean bitching. anyways webcams should be up soon.. good time to test how sucky or not your isp is updating dns. |
Quote:
easy way reboot if it is still the same reboot firewall (if you have any) otherwise wait a few more. other people in the world that did not access webcams yesterday should be getting the new place. |
is it back up yet for you guys?

pocketkangaroo...it appears your problem in the Chicago area isn't directly related to Webcams.com but a Comcast issue:
dslreports.com forum remark,17284153 Seperate by slashes before and after "forum". |
its loading fine here...
