Sig Sauer P229 in .357 Sig. Definitely my favorite handgun. I also have a S&W 915 9mm. Really nice gun for the price and it is just a tad too big to be called a sub-compact. My girlfriend is 5'1 and has no trouble shooting it even with her little hands. The .357 Sig is very hard for her to shoot however.

Had a Tarus 9mm blow up in my hand...they scare the shit out of me, and I have the scars to explain why.

I have an HK USP 45. It's an excellent weapon.

If I were purchasing a new firearm I would get the HK P2000 9mm. It's in testing phase so it might be a while before it's on the market though. It's truely ambidextrous and allows for saftey, slide and decocking from either hand. I'm left handed so it's kind of tricky with the USP45. And it is designed for small hands.

My favorite is the MP5SD. Which is based on the MP5. Unfortunately both full automatics and silenced are illegal. So is my second favorite, the PSG1 sniper rifle.

I conceal carry a Glock 19, which IMHO I believe is the best of the Glock series, nice and light. Plus the gun never jams if you feed it quality ammo, so leave the Blaser/Wal-Mart brand ammo at Wal-Mart. Also, reliabilty is about 99.99999999999%, since all the tests done by the Army on this gun, showed it can be frozen, heated, dipped in mud/water, and dropped from heights but still fires like a charm, I think the only thing that jams it is cheap ammo. Plus, the 9mm cartridge is very common and cheap. Has good defensive power and is light in recoil. And detratractors who think the 9mm cartridge is a pussy shot, stand down range and catch one from the end of my barrel. However, the best thing you can do is go to a gun store and handle a bunch of guns, buy whichever fits your hand well and is within your budget.
